Can the spell check mark-up in the note window be turned off?
If FL simply refuses to allow note pop-ups to display a complete note rather than just a pre-defined and limited keyhole window (for the life of me, I cannot fathom why this doesn't bother more people), then I need to open up my note entry window to display my data. Unfortunately, the spell check mars that option with its ignorant and garish display. I need to make that spell check mark-up go away. Can that be done? If not, it must become an option.
For the sake of clarity, I am looking for a global "off" option, not merely a one-at-a-time, 2-to-4-click procedure.

You mean turn off spell checking? IIRC the Program setting option "check spelling while typing" being set to "no" should do it.

Thanks for the reply, however, that actually doesn't appear to work. I turned it off, and not only does the mark-up remain, but adding an extra letter to a word causes the mark-up to appear.

Completely different experience here David!
Wrongly spelt words appear with a dotted line on my notes.
So I guess there must be a setting controlling this somewhere?

David, you need to close the Notes panel and reopen it for your settings change to take effect.

It seems like a bug to me that the superscript is included as part of the word when doing the spell check. I've created a bug report for this problem.
