Problem with "Send to Keynote" AND trying to "copy and paste" media into Keynote

I am trying to "copy and paste" or "send to Keynote" media files.

When I do so Keynote just "beachballs" and the file is never pasted. The same thing happens in Pages and Omnioutliner but not in Microsoft OneNote or Word.

I am using an up to date MacBook Air M1 with 16 gigs of memory.

Any ideas?

I can confirm this issue. I did find a work around:

Use the "Save As" button
Import (or copy/paste) into Keynote.
