BUG in Visual filter or user misunderstanding?

The filter worked as expected until the Speech Act entry for which the search condition comes as a direct copy from the context menu. However, I expected only the direct speech act (see red boxes) rather than including the context (as in the All Caps): Why are the boundaries of all caps as they are?

Good question. The CAPS represent what is highlighted in a normal Search. "the son of God" in verse 1 is not present in the SBLGNT, so it is not changed/highlighted. Verse 2 reflects the SBLGNT, and verses 1 and 2 represent 3 Speech Acts (verse 3 is not a Speech Act). Verses 4-6 represent 5 Speech Acts.

As for other "direct speech act", verses 7-8 represent 2.

Having read the documentation, I still don't understand this datatype....

That dataset is not limited to direct speech.

From the documentation (emphasis is mine):

The Speech Acts Dataset is designed to annotate sentences in an attempt to capture the volition or intent of the speaker/writer.
[...]
This annotation captures the intentions (what is being done) of the speaker or writer.
