Morphological searches comparing the synoptics!

Hi folks!

This is my first post to a Logos forum. If I'm not posing in the right place, please direct me to the right forum. Here's the deal.

I want to do a search for every place that Matthew uses λέγω/εἴπον as an aorist indicative while Mark uses λέγω in the imperfect. So, an example: In Mt. 13:14, Mt. has ὁ δε ... εἶπεν and Mk has καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς. So it's easy enough do do that search for Mk

Morph Search --> lemma:λέγω@VI OR lemma:εἶπον@VI

And that yeilds 133 results in 126 verses.

I can do the same for Matthew, or course, changing the I to A and that yields 785 results in Mt.

NOW.... is there a way to search Mt and Mk and find in parallel passages where one uses the aorist and the other the imperfect forms of the same verb? Did that explanation make sense to anyone? Thank you for your help.

This one was specifically set up for questions about a particular product Faithlife was selling and not many people might see things here.

    It made total sense but I'm afraid I can't think of any way of doing that directly within Logos.

    You could do the different searches and then use the Print / Export feature (available in the panel menu by clicking the vertical three dots icon at the top right of the panel) to export the results to Excel. In Excel, you could align parallel passages and then do the comparison. But it would take some effort.

    Sorry I can't think of anything more direct

    Manual idea is using a Bible Harmony. Use a search result (or passage list saved from Morph Search) to find a location: e.g. Mt13.14 and pericopes:

    Next look for pericope to see parallel locations: e.g. The Reason for the Parables

    Visual Filter highlighting of Logos Greek Morphology can be used in parallel passages to "see" verbal differences: e.g. aorist & imperfect.
