4.1 B1: Synaptics TouchPad scrolls now without special download! (on MS Vista)

Hey, sorry if I missed someone's post on this, but I am excited to discover that my Synaptics TouchPad scrolls now in 4.1 B1 (it didn't in previous versions)! Resoures, reports, Information and Favorites tools, notes, search results - they all work. All previous posts indicated a bit of a wait for this to work. Wait is over.

Tim,

This may be related to updated .NET patches from Microsoft as well. Either way, I share your excitement. I'm so used to using the scroll feature on my touchpad that I was really missing it in Logos.

Mine is still not scrolling. I'm running a Toshiba Satellite L305 with Win 7 64bit

I've downloaded the most recent driver from the synaptics site and downloaded the synaptics optional update that Windows update finds... still is not working. It's not that big a deal to me since I usually have a wireless mouse; but it would be nice to have the option.

I had the same problem after I tried all possible things, plus generic synaptics driver from the Synaptics web site. Nothing helped. Then I found driver on the DELL site designated for XPS notebooks (I have XPS M1330 ) and it started to work.

Interesting, since My computer is an XPS running the updated driver, I assumed any updated driver would work from almost any company.

At any rate it does confirm for anyone watching that the new XPS touchpad drivers do work.

My problem actually was to find the correct driver. The driver site for Dell XPS M1330 still has the old one. So I tried to use the generic one from the Synaptics site. Later I googled a little bit more and found a new driver for the 16" DELL XPS notebook, I installed it and it works like a charm.

Hah, so it get's a bit funnier to me just because the Dell XPS16 is the computer I have. So I wonder why it is working and the synaptics driver isn't? strange indeed.

The generic driver from Synaptics site uses different Interface than the Dell one. It looks Dell adds something to it and that "something" makes it work [:)]

Okay I am going to retract the "works great" remark as I was encountering several resources that it would not scroll vertically or horizontally. So there seems to be an issue. I checked and I have the latest driver for my system. It also works fine on applications outside of Logos.

When I checked WIndows to find a new driver for my touchpad, it said I have the most current one. However I had to find one on the Dell XPS 16" with the date of 04/22/2010 and the number of the series: 15.0.18.0

Only after I installed that one it started to work properly.

I would try the one for the Studio Laptop 1569, series 14.0.9.5, A08 from April 2010. Make sure you have the original one to come back to if the new one would not work.

My Toshiba may end up with some sort of identity crisis running a dell touchpad driver; but scrolling is now working in L4. The Dell driver did the trick.

Yes, that is the one I have, but it is for XPS notebooks, I tried to find one for the Dell Studios Laptops.

But if that one worked for Toshiba it will surely work for the Dell Studio...[:)]
