Do you think that this is a great book? Do you recommend it for a first reading on the issue?
Thanks.

I've never read it, but my take on it from the sample material (I think I looked it up for more sample pages on Amazon as well) was that it is biased in the direction of dispensationalism, not an unbalanced view. But I think it would be hard for anyone to write an unbalanced book on this topic. Most people take one side or the other on the controversy. Better would be a book that includes chapters from people on both sides, responding to each other in a charitable dialogue, in my opinion. I don't know of any that I could recommend.
The title (even though sounding biased the opposite way than the author's leaning) even sounds like something's wrong. I'd pass on this one unless you were researching or writing specifically to this topic

Perhaps the Dispensational Controversy the author is addressing is the present controversy within the Dispensational camp between Progressive Dispensationalism and Traditional dispensationalism. In that case, I would not recommend it as a first read.
Not having read the book, I can't make a recommendation. But I did preorder it for my own study. I've yet to find a good book making the case for dispensationalism - most books I've come across are written to respond to arguments against dispensationalism. If this book is as comprehensive as it claims, it will probably do both - present the case for dispensationalism while also responding to arguments against it. If so, it could be a good book for a first-time study of the issue - while keeping in mind the fact that other positions exist and they too need to be considered. From what I know of dispensationalism, I'm rather adamantly not a dispensationalist. But I'm hoping this book can help me ensure that my understanding of dispensationalism is not overlooking something.
