FRENCH BIBLE How many revisions of Louis Segond 1910 are there and how are they different?
How many revisions of Louis Segond 1910 are there and how are they different?
I have found the following revisions:
La Nouvelle Bible Segond
Nouvelle Version Segond Revise ( Colombe 1978)
Nouvelle Edition de Geneve 1979
La Bible Segond 21
Are there any more revisions and how are these different?
How popular are these revisions?
Thanks

- The Segond 1910, starting from the Hebrew and Greek originals, is the oldest one still used by many (and myself). The only Segond version (and french version of the Bible) to have an interlinear fonction in Logos.
- The Bible "à la Colombe" ("with the Dove" - There is a dove on the book cover) (1978) - Revision of the Louis Segond Bible. The revision mainly concerns a modernization of the vocabulary.
- The Bible, New Geneva Edition (1979) - Revised Segond version, published by the Biblical Society of Geneva.-> translation retouching.
- The New Segond Bible (2002) - Very meticulous revision which aims to make the translation even more faithful to the original texts and more rigorous in its expression.
- The Bible Segond 21 (2007) - It is a version revised by the Biblical Society of Geneva. The goal is to use today's vocabulary.
Hello!
The Louis Segond Bible is the reference protestant translation, IMO.
Different editions are available:
(Also: None does contain the so-called deuterocanonical books).
You are welcome!
Also, I made an article on my blog to compare the different versions of the Segond.
It's here (in french): http://www.noscours.be/www.bibliorum.net/quelle-version-segond-choisir/
