Footnotes Within Notes

Please forgive me if this has been discussed before. When I add a note and I copy and paste from other sources like commentaries, dictionaries, etc, it paste the text with a footnote at the bottom and both have the  corresponding superscript number 1. That is great. When I copy and paste into the same note from another source it paste with the footnote but with the same superscript number 1. And this will happen over and over again. I then have to manually change each superscript number in the copied text and also the matching footnote to 2, 3, 4, and so on. Where as in Microsoft Word when I copy and paste from multiple sources it knows to change the number automatically. I understand Notes is not Word, but is there a way, a function, something that I need to change in the settings for this to work automatically?
