Word study output help
Hi everyone,
I did a Word study on “disciple.” In the ESV version, my preferred Bible, there are 253 verses containing “disciple” (as you can see below). You can also see that the NASB has 255 verses with the word “disciple.” Is there a way to see the additional verses in NASB that are not covered by the 253 verses in ESV? This would reduce the manual effort required to compare the ESV output with the NASB output to identify the verses covered in NASB but not in ESV.

Run a Bible Search on both versions and then select Grid format:
I typed ESV, NASB to select the bibles (no need for a collection).
The light/white coloured squares indicate there is no result for that translation e.g. Is 50:4 in ESV. By clicking ESV in the header, it displays the ESV text. Click NASB95 to see the text in that translation.
NB. ensure that Match all Word Forms is selected in the Search panel menu.
EDIT: It will also show you the verses in NASB where "disciple" is not used.

I tried "ESV, NASB" and I ended up with 3 Bibles. But that's ok.
I'm clearly not doing something right because you see 541 results whereas I see only 90 results under "Bible results."
I looked over and over, but I cannot see where I'm messing up. I can see your search is also a "Bible" search with "All Bible Text" in "All Passages." The only difference is I have 3 Bibles whereas yours has 2 (btw, I could never get only ESV and NASB as you did; either all 3 or ESV + NASB95. I tried, as you suggested "ESV, NASB"). With more Bibles, if anything, I should have picked up more hits.
If you could guide me where I am going wrong, that would be great.

I couldn't either - my guess is that Dave only has one NASB version, but I could be wrong and he is doing something I haven't seen to get the results he is seeing.

This does it. Thank you Graham. "Match all word forms" is a good thing for me to know. Very helpful.
If I may follow up with another question...Is there a way to output all the 508 UNIQUE verses? What do I mean by UNIQUE? I am looking for 3 sets of verses to be exported.
(i) All verses in ESV (the first Bible in the 3-Bible list) that contains "disciple".
(ii) Unique verses in NASB95 (the second Bible in the 3-Bible list) that contains "disciple", but "disciple" is NOT there in ESV (the first Bible in the 3-Bible list).
(iii) Unique verses in NASB (the third Bible in the 3-Bible list) that contains "disciple", but "disciple" is NOT there in ESV nor in NASB95.
The sum total of the above three should be 508. The reason I would like this output is that I can then mark up and take notes in the Word output of these 508 verses.

Another search expansion is Right Click on a word to choose root (has square root symbol) to find related original language words:
disciple OR pupil OR <Root = lbs/el/μανθανω> OR <Root = lbs/he/למד>
Search result colors show gloss and root results. Psalm 119 includes disciple aspect of seeking & learning God.
Lexham English Bible (LEB) is a recent readable English translation (developed/edited from original language literal word renderings).

My demonstration library has a custom series LHB+SBLGNT (for Lexham Hebrew Bible & Society of Biblical Literature Greek New Testament). When a mouse hovers over original language word, a pop-up includes morphology with an English translation gloss, which can be searched. In LHB, noticed disciple only found Isaiah 8:16 so looked at gloss in Isaiah 50:4 (pupil) to expand search:
Pupil is a good idea to add to the search. Thank you.
I seem to have LHB and SBL Greek New Testament. But I can't read Hebrew or Greek. Have looked at all English verses of a given Hebrew/Greek lemma, but that's about all I can do with the original language at this point in time.

And I also noticed "pupil" being one of the definitions that shows up in many lexicons. So you were spot on with your earlier suggestion. Also, I noticed "follower" being one of the definitions. So I'm going to try and use that too.
I have thought of using Louw Nida, but not smart enough to execute.

Thankful for corresponding search result highlighting. LHB and SBL Greek New Testament are enabled for Clause Search.
Greek reads from left to right, the same as English. Hebrew reads from right to left.

Thank you for the visual clues to set up the series. They were super helpful. I gave the same series name to both resources and it worked! That is awesome.

I am curious to know how my school will react if I tell the reason I, a financial economist, am applying for a sabbatical is so I can focus on getting trained in Biblical tools!

Louw-Nida subdomains can be searched: e.g. Be Ready to Learn, Pay Attention (27.55-27.60); Discipline, Train (36.10-36.11); Follow, Be a Disciple (36.31-36.43)

I am curious to know how my school will react if I tell the reason I, a financial economist, am applying for a sabbatical is so I can focus on getting trained in Biblical tools!
Praying for appropriate words to describe personal growth sabbatical, which could include searching skill expansion as well as financial insights & wisdom.
My school will not give sabbatical unless I go to a different school in a different city (weird rule indeed). Taking a sabbatical will require uprooting my child for a short period of time, which was just not worth it. I just have to learn to balance the time I spend on professional activities vs. time I spend with the Bible.
