On the difference between Bible study and Study guide ... I absolutely reject that the publishers description which reflects regional, denominational, and marketing concerns is a useful distinction. I absolutely embrace the belief that use cases should be the basis of any library type distinctions. When I last looked at them, this is what I thought you were using:

  • Bible study - a study guide covering a block of Bible text, most often a study of a Bible book
  • Study guide - a study guide covering a Biblical topic or a non-Biblical text

However, I now see these books in "Study guide" rather than "Bible study". If this is intended, what usefulness do you see in the division of the two? Why not have a single category. [No, I'd prefer the distinction as I defined it above].

Agreed, it seems as though the fact that the word "guide" is in the title of most of these has driven their functional category label, though they should be functionally categorized as "Bible Study," regardless of their literal title as "guide."
