Lemma in Passage
While Important Words identified the words most frequently discussed by commentaries, it simply showed us where those word occurred in the Biblical text. Lemma in Passage allows us to relate the discussion of a lemma to commentaries in our library.
From Verbum Help:[quote]
Lemma in Passage Section
This section searches the Library for resources that discuss a given lemma, as opposed to a normal search which would search for that lemma. For example, a commentary where the significance of ἀγάπη is discussed, instead of just finding where it is used in a text.
The results are divided into Lemmas in Reference and Other Lemmas.
• Lemmas in Reference displays where lemmas in the guide passage are quoted in another resource such as a commentary.
• Other Lemmas displays lemmas that are discussed in a resource but not quoted directly from the original source material.
This section is available by default in Bible Word Study and Exegetical Guide. It can be added to Passage Guide.
Hovering over the section header displays the Settings menu, which allows users to specify which Collection the section will search. Multiple Lemma in Passage sections can be added to a Guide, each specifying a different collection.
In Bible Word Study
The Bible Word Study is keyed on a specific lemma, so the Lemma in Passage section displays instances where that lemma is discussed in the library. Results can be viewed by Passage or Resource:
• Passage groups results by biblical book first, then resource.
• Resource groups results by resource first, then biblical book.
Each passage is also a link to open the resource to the relevant section. Two lines of text are displayed with instances of the particular lemma highlighted. Click more to view additional references.
In Exegetical Guide and Passage Guide
These guides are keyed from a reference, so this section lists results for the lemmas present within the guide’s reference range. Results can be viewed either by Lemma or Resource:
• Lemma groups results by lemma first, and then resource.
• Resource groups results by resource first, then lemma.
The text of the lemma is hyperlinked to open a Bible Word Study for that lemma. Each passage is also a link to open the resource to the relevant section. Two lines of text are displayed with instances of the particular lemma highlighted. Click more to view additional references.[1]

The Section heading bar and Section heading bar menu both contain a Settings option – a standard option that allows the user to specify a collection of resources to be considered in the results.
Contents
The data in Lemma in Passage may be shown in two sequences:
- By lemma
- By resource
By lemma
By resource
Note that in either sequence, the results are divided into two parts:
- Lemmas in your chosen passage
- Lemmas in the commentary discussion of your chosen passage where the lemma does not occur in your passage.
Detail by lemma
Detail by resource
There is no difference in the data provided by the two sequences, only in the order in which the expandable/collapsible headings appear.
Content of lemma header line which appears in frequency sequence:
- Expand/contract triangle
- Lemma icon
- Lemma in original script
- Transliterated lemma
- Pronunciation icon
- Gloss
- Number of results
Content of resource header line which appears in frequency sequence:
- Expand/contract triangle
- Book cover thumbnail
- Resource title
- Number of results
Content of detail line which appears in canonical sequence:
- Bible reference
- Excerpt of commentary text discussing lemma with occurrences of the lemma highlighted.

Search
One can search for the mention of a lemma but not for a discussion of the lemma. Therefore, one cannot replicate this section.
Supplemental materials
The Important Words guide section supplements this guide by focusing on identification of the lemmas most frequently discussed.
