Regarding New Feature: Sermon Builder
- Added Scripture block insertion inline suggestions.
1) What if you only want the reference without the text on a line by itself? We used to add a space after the reference, then press Enter, and the reference would be retained on its own line without the text. Now the user has to click off the that line or add a character (like a period) and then press Enter to prevent the text of the reference from being inserted.
- Is this the intended or an incidental behavior? Maybe a third "inline suggestion" is needed to help the user know how to retain the reference without the text on a line by itself.
2) When I pasted a vertical list of verses, only the last one was recognized as a Bible reference with hyperlink and the inline suggestions. The others were plain text without hyperlink or inline suggestions. (It wasn't until the document was closed and then re-opened that these were recognized as Bible references with hyperlink and inline suggestions.)
- I expected each Bible reference to be recognized as Bible references with hyperlinks and inline suggestions when the list was pasted.
- Of course the question comes, should one option do the same thing to all references in the list at once, or should each reference have its own options to be executed separately?!?
3) When I paste or type one Bible reference, the inline suggestions appear. If I keep typing a sentence after the Bible reference, the inline suggestions disappear. If I place the cursor at the end of that Bible reference in that sentence, the inline suggestions appear again between the Bible reference and the sentence text that follows. If I press Enter, the Bible text is added below the reference and the sentence I added after the Bible reference disappears (ouch).
- This happens whether the Bible reference is in the beginning or middle of the sentence. Whatever part of the sentence that follows the reference is lost (any part of the sentence before the reference is retained).
- Shouldn't the Bible text be added below the full, retained sentence? Or below the paragraph the sentence is in?
4) When I paste a horizontal line of Bible references separated by semicolons, they are all hyperlinks, but only the last reference has and responds to the inline suggestions.
- Should the options at the end of the list execute all verses in the list? Or options be available for each individual reference so the user can make the appropriate selection for each?
Thinking out loud - maybe the options should be in a dropdown list of options rather than inline to make it easer to add references and manage the behavior of the Bible reference(s) (like the pencil previously used to convert the block passage text).
- It seems there are several scenarios that require different sets or presentations of options.
I was doing fine with the two "add slides" options in the toolbar and the pencil in the resulting textbox. I think I like this old way better.
