Outlines
Outlines is an area of frustration for me because the majority of the outlines labeled are very broad outlines while it is the detailed outlines that are of personal interest. In addition, unlike sermons, it appears that user labels cannot expand the results.

This section links to resources that provide outlines on the guide key passage, such as Bible dictionaries and commentaries.
It is included in the Passage Guide, Sermon Starter Guide, and Exegetical Guide.[1]
Prerequisite reading:Resources included: a subset of Bible commentaries, Study Bibles, Bible dictionaries, and other resources containing outlines. The focus appears to be on those providing a broad overview. Additional tagging of resources seems to have slowed.

The section heading bar and menu are the minimal defaults – no settings, no saving.
Contents
The content is very simple:
- Title of the outline
- Title of the resource containing the outline
Note that The Bible Reader’s Companion appears twice in the list because it contributes two outlines. See the Search below.

Search
It takes only a simple label search to duplicate the results displayed in this section. In this case, the search argument is {Label Bible Outline WHERE Reference ~ <Mk 1:1-11>}. Note that my personal labels are picked up by the Search but not the guide.
Supplemental materials
The Bible Outline Browser has some issues with multiple outlines in a single resource and selection of outlines to compare. It still provides a useful tool for viewing and comparing outline.
For Mark 1:1-11 it selects 73 outlines. In the left panel, one can see:
- Resource
- Author
- Top two levels of outline in expand/collapse format.
In the right panel, one can see:
- Resource
- Author
- All levels of outline in expand/collapse format
- Bible text taken from the highest priority Bible; note that the Bible is also a settable option.
In the compare format, one has a quick visual overview of the variation of where outlines divide the text. This is quite similar to the Compare Pericopes tool. Unfortunate this useful tool doesn’t allow the selection of the outlines to be compared.
On mouse over a particular box (outline line) the title for that outline entry and all entries up the hierarchy are shown. Unfortunately, this is displayed in a manner that does not allow a screen shot to capture it.
Please spend some time exploring this tool and consider how alternative divisions emphasize different aspects of the text. It is also worth spending time exploring why the divisions of pericopes vary from those of the outlines.
