I am trying to make a general note, but I get a blank tab with no ability to do anything. As I keep trying, it keeps adding "notes" but nothing is there. What is wrong? Thanks!

Hi Randall - and welcome to the forums.

It looks as though new notes are being added against Romans 4:3 - is that correct?

And how are you trying to create these new notes?

If General Notes is a Notebook you have to make sure that your note will go into that Notebook

If you do it by Selection or Reference (on the Left), click on the Notebook on the other side.

Thank you. I've done this for years and have scores of notes. I am doing what you are showing, but am getting a blank note page.

I appreciate the input, but this does not seem to be the problem.

A couple of months ago, I had this problem for half an hour or so ... the problem was that the open portion in your screen shot is not the note area as you (and I) think. Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly what caused it but I do remember what I did to "correct" it.

    • I moved Notes into a floating window so I wasn't constrained by space (right click on tab for float option)
    • I opened the filter
    • I change my view to default
    • In my particular case, the default was missing records so I recovered them through documents.com
    • I selected a recent note by clicking on the record in the middle column
    • It came up with all the edit information in the rightmost column.
    • I returned the options to what I really wanted and docked it back in its place
    • Everything went back to working normally.

I never did figure out exactly what had gone wrong so the edit options didn't show but assumed because of the accidently deleted notes, I had somehow messed up and gotten the note tool pointing towards a note that no longer existed - or something similar

    Thank you.

The screen that is there is the screen that Logos automatically loads; I did not choose to go there.

However, I did move the notes to a floating window, but did not see that option anywhere in the floating window for "filter." What am I missing?

    Thank you for your help.

I know you didn't intentionally choose to go there ... neither did I. But both of us did something - I don't know what - that left the application thinking a blank screen rather than the note edit screen is the appropriate default.

The item I marked as 1 opens the filter/notebook panel - giving you all three panels visible.

    Err 1

What "solved it" for me was starting at the far left, picking something ... which populated the middle column from which I pciked something ... which showed up correctly in the note panel ... which cleared out the error.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I opened the notes in a floating window, but nothing works. Some references showed up now, but that is it. Everything that I "click" on refuses to respond. I took a screen shot.

I'm preaching this morning and then leaving for vacation. I may not have Internet for quite a few days, so if I don't get back to this conversation after this afternoon, it is not because I am ignoring you and your help. I really appreciate it.

Enjoy your vacation. We've made progress in that the Note is showing as an editable item. Let's try one more thing. On the left panel, switch from filter to notebook and verify that General Notes exists.

Everything that I "click" on refuses to respond.

If you opened General Notes from the Docs menu, try opening Notes from the Tools menu -  in a floating window to start with - and see what works e.g. can you get the Filter sidebar and open General Notes from there?

If nothing is working I can only recommend you upgrade to Logos 9 (free) provided you have Windows 10, version 1607 or later. Logos 8 is no longer supported, so you will only get the little help we can offer in the forums.
