For those with the M1 MacBooks Questions

1. Do you find that the M1 is fast enought?

2. Is only having two USB C ports a problem & are you using USB C Hub for the other ports that you need?

What do you all think of the coming 14" MacBook Pro hopefully in Oct or Nov? It is rumored to have a 10 core CPU and either 16 or 32 GPU cores.

Yes, as fast as my MacBook Pro 16" at most operations (indexing takes a little more time).

2. Is only having two USB C ports a problem & are you using USB C Hub for the other ports that you need?

Not for my daily study, but I use my MacBook Pro 16" when I need to live-stream.

I'm going to keep my 13" M1, and pick up a 16" MacBook Pro M1 when it becomes available. Although, I'm starting to think about one of the new iMacs, and just keep my Intel MacBook Pro when I need to stream at church.

I have been holding out. I think this fall's line-up will finally open my wallet. But it's turning into a buyer's market with all the machines now out there perfectly capable of making Logos rock. Logos is such an awesome good program. We are so blessed.

It's certainly fast enough (using a MacBook Air btw). I don't really notice that it's still emulated for Intel. What speed issues exist always existed for both Windows and Mac. I'm not a fan of the .NET design underlying the program.. or any robust program like this. It's better for short term rapid development. Logos is begging for a more "bare metal" native app design for both platforms, like Accordance has (that said, the reason I don't use Accordance is because nothing can compete with Logos' library options. It's not even close).

Keep in mind that Logos is not yet running natively on the M1 processor; fast as it is, it's still in emulation mode. It should be faster in native mode, and I would be surprised if it's not faster, but only time will tell. Logos (being Logos) won't say when (or if) a Universal version of the app will be released. It could be late 2022, or it could be tomorrow. They will, of course, because all Macs will be Mx instead of Intel in the next year or so.

Here’s another question instead of opening another thread: do Mac laptops update as often as windows laptops do? The reason I’m asking is because Windows or Microsoft they deliver a lot of updates hence a lot of restarting that you have to do. So I was wondering if Mac does the same thing pushing too many updates.

Apple interim updates are usually trustworthy and are often provided to enhance security.

Each year in the fall there is a major upgrade.

One can select 'Automatic Updates' and the system will alert you to the fact that an update is pending and that the machine will attempt to install the update overnight.

One can elect to allow the automatic process to continue or install the update right away.

Updates should not impede one's workflow other than by choice.
