Filtering for highlights issue

I have filtered for highlights in AYBD. The result includes 1 un-highlighted sentence and does not include other highlights. As an example see image. The right panel shows a highlight that should be in the filter list on the left panel. And the left panel shows a sentence that isn't highlighted.

I figured out my issue. I went to the Notes tool and looked at all the notes/highlights for AYBD. I had a few entries there with no note icon and no highlight style. (not sure how that came about). But I deleted the entries to resolve the un-highlighted sentence in the filter.

The second issue that I mentioned relates to how I initially created the note/highlight to begin with. If I create it as a note and add a highlight, that is not a highlight in the filters facets. This is why some highlights do not appear in the filtered results above. I guess I initially created them as a note and added a highlight. And others I initially created them as a highlight.

Which leads me to another question. Can I change a Note Type from Note to Highlight?

I think this leads me to conclude it's best to not mix notes and highlights in the same note, because a note can only have one "Type".

Yes. You can add a note to a Highlight and a highlight to a Note, but they remain the same "type" when done in Notes tool. Otherwise you are mixing highlights and notes if you do it in the resource i.e. you end up with two records in the Notes tool, and it's best to remove the unwanted one via the tool.

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you are answering with "Yes". I don't think you can change a "Type" on a note or highlight to the other. I think I am preferring to keep notes and highlights completely separate, so that I can use the filter on "Type" to see all my highlights in a given resource. If I add a highlight to a note, that highlight does not appear in the filter for "Type" = highlight, because it was created initially as a "Note".

I'm wondering how others are dealing with the "Type" filter. If I don't keep highlights completely separate from Notes, then I will not get a complete filter for highlights in a given resource. This does mean two different "notes", if I want a note and a highlight. Just wondering what others think?

I was agreeing with your conclusion, adding a comment that you "add" or "mix" them in the Notes tool. If you do it in the resource, you end up with an extra annotation.

Just highlight your Note text in the resource and you will get a Highlight record in the tool.

If you Search for highlights e.g. {Highlight Box}, it will find any Type with that highlight.
