My L3 shows that I have 2,155 sources. L4 shows that I have 2,218 resources. Can anyone advise me how to get all my L4 resources to my L3?
In my case, the two reconcile if you factor in (a) Any PBB files you have in ver 3 are counted there but are not resources available yet in ver 4, and (b) Any hidden resources in ver 4 will not count there but do count in ver 3. With this in mind my two match.
I have heard some say the AddinHelp files are in ver 3 but not ver 4, but when I use Location Manager in ver 3 to count resources, these do not seem to be included.
1. Adjust L3 count
2. Adjust L4 count
How close does that bring them?
How many resources have you bought for L4 that were not transferred to L3? There would also be extras resources if you upgraded your base library when you switched to L4. You can download these to L3 from http://www.logos.com/L4/support/Logos4Resources
Can anyone advise me how to get all my L4 resources to my L3?
Steven, beside the fact that L3 and L4 will have different resource counts for exactly the same collections as mentioned above, it is possible you have new resources in L4 that can be used in L3. See if you have taken the following steps:
Start by syncing your Logos 3 installation.
Run the script for the Library you own (Scholars, Home, etc.) here: http://wiki.logos.com/LE_Resources_for_Logos_3This should bring in any resources you got when upgrading your base package to the LE (Logos 4) version or to a higher package in L4.
Next, if you have purchased any resources since you upgraded to Logos 4 you need to download and install them in Logos 3.0 just as you previously would have. If you got a CD you can use that to install. If you did not get a CD go to your Order History tab on your account on Logos.com and click on the Order Number of each resource you purchased since L4. This will take you to a summary of your order where you will find 'Download Instructions for Previous Versions.' Click on that and click on Unlock and Download.
Thanks, Mark. But I was not able to find the "download instructions for previous versions." I often read your posts, and maybe you can guide me step by step?
Never mind, I got it figured out. I made the mistake of not clicking on the order "number." Thanks for your help, Mark. Sincerely, Steve
1. Go to Logos.com: http://www.logos.com/
2. In the upper right corner by your name, click on 'My Account':
3. Click on Order History:
4. Click on Order Number of the resource you are interested in:
5. Click on 'Download Instructions for Previous Versions':
6. Click on 'Unlock & Download':
Thank you so much, Mark. You are a genius. I'm so appreciative of guys like you who really know Logos. Your suggestion is working for me!
Well let us know how close your resource counts end up.
I received numerous downloads, but the count is still the same. Any other suggestions, Mark?
Have you adjusted the count as I suggested above?
I believe so, Mark. Even though I updated numerous resources the count remained the same.
All I can suggest is that you've discovered how many Logos 4 specific resources you have that don't work in Logos 3. It is more than I'd suspect. But, it you've done all the above, you should have all the resources that would show up in My Library in either program. You would not have in Logos 3 things like the various image collections specific to Logos 4, for example, reducing resource count in Logos 3 below the count in Logos 4.
Why not open both programs, size them to fit both on your screen and scroll through both Library views alphabetically to see if you notice anyhting. It might point to something else that needs to be done.
One more thing you could do, if the L3 and L4 are on the same computer, in the command box in L4 type:
scan <directory>
where <directory is the Resources directory of L3. Usually (at least in Win 7 or Vista) that's at C:\Program Files (x86)\Libronix DLS\Resources. If the two installs are not on the same computer, maybe you can copy your L3 resources to a USB thumb drive and insert it into the L4 computer then do the scan of that folder.
This will ensure that anything in L3 that's valid gets into L4.
It appears that I now have most of my L4 library on L3. Thank you all for your help! I'm so thankful that there are logos-computer savvy people out there who are willing to expend the time and energy in helping those of us who are not high-tech savvy. Blessings to you all, Steve
True, but the original issue was trying to get Logos 4 resources into Logos 3. He had more resources by a large margin in L4. He's concerned he's missing some resources he should be able to enjoy in L3.
It appears that I now have most of my L4 library on L3.
