Confused on Free Logos 9.

I have been using L 8 on my windows 8.1 desktop for years.  I got a splash saying to get Logos 9 free.  I downloaded it and reboot.  When it comes up, it says "Logos Bible Software 8.17 SR-3
8.17.0.0022". 

     So do I have Ver 9 or 8?  I see no difference.

Welcome to the Logos user forums.

You have Logos 8. Logos 9 doesn't run on Windows 8. Here are the system requirements: https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007506971-Logos-Minimum-System-Requirements 

It's probably difficult for Faithlife's marketing folks to make all of their marketing efforts 'technically aware' of the environments they are marketing within. So, the ad medium that caused you to get the splash apparently didn't know you had Windows 8.

To further clarify: you now have a license for version 9. Since your computer cannot actually run version 9, it is still running the last edition of version 8. If at some point you install Logos on a computer that is capable of running version 9, then Logos 9 will be installed, rather than 8.
