Hello,
I need to search for first class conditional clauses that are preceded by γαρ (within 1 or two verses). How can this be accomplished?
Thank you.
Logos provides direct support for searching for first class conditional clauses so searching for that following γὰρ can be done, in a Bible search, as shown below
γὰρ BEFORE {Section <GrammaticalConstructions = 1st Condition>}
But that will only find results where both search terms are in the same verse - is that sufficient for what you are looking for?
Hi Graham,
I think that will suffice, however, I tried to reproduce what you show and was unsuccessful. I am not sure what I did incorrectly.
I found the following string to work: γάρ BEFORE {Section <GramCon = 1C>}
Thank you, though. Your post helped me track down what I needed.

I hope you don't mind me stepping in to make an observation but it appears that your search query is slightly different than the one Graham used. In particular note that you are using a lower case "s" for "Search" which should be an upper case "S". Try to see if that makes a difference for you.
Hi Bruce,
No problem at all stepping in. I did adjust that and tried a variety of different combinations which did not work. However, his formula did help me locate how to do it and I found the following to work: γάρ BEFORE {Section <GramCon = 1C>}
Thank you for your time.
I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you but I'm glad you have found an alternative.
I see two problems with the search string in Ward's screenshot:
I see two problems with the search string in Ward's screenshot: Section must be capitalized GrammaticalConstructions can't have a space between the two words.
I noticed the first one but missed the second. Thanks for the reminder.
