added wiki page
That's great, Steve. The only thing is, I wouldn't have called this the Visual Filter Tool. To me, a Tool is something you open from the Tools menu, and it opens in a tab or floating window. This which you're describing is rather a dropdown menu. So I would have called the wiki page (and every mention of it within that page) the Visual Filter Menu.
But you don't use a menu. VF opens in a tab and it's a great tool even if it opens from the File menu!
EDIT: Ouch. Sorry Rosie, I should have looked at the article first
So I would have called the wiki page (and every mention of it within that page) the Visual Filter Menu
Or Visual Filter Dropdown - depending whether other items in the toolbar are named menu or dropdown.
So I would have called the wiki page (and every mention of it within that page) the Visual Filter Menu.
i wish they had named that button something more distinctive (different than the VF document tool). Many are confused and just call it that 3 circle thingy...lol.
Thanks !
Edit: since the title for that wiki page has changed, the links in the OP will NOT work. (i cannot edit that post, time has expired for editing) Use the links in this reply please.
The math geeks among us call it the Venn diagram.
It is called the "'three lenses' button" in the Help file under Visual Filters.
I think the way Logos sees it, all of the things on that menu are visual filters, but the visual filter documents the user can create are a special custom kind of visual filter. It is definitely a naming problem, as it leaves people confused. I think your wiki page will help.
