Is Jewish Law by Bernard Auerbach; Melvin J. Sykes; Menachem Elon a good source for finding the ideas of Jews in the New Testament?

Recognizing Alabama's caution, the law set you mention is a very technical and in-depth discussion of jewish law ... quite a bit of comparison to other cultures, and so forth. Lawyers would enjoy it. But it won't deliver what you're hoping for.
Plus it's difficult to untangle Roman law (lots of sources) from 1st entury jewish (largely Josephus). A good example is John the Baptist's entrapment.
