I don't know about you guys... when big release is more about bug fixes from previous big release and nothing big about new features? Pretty disappointing for me... and we've been considering this as THE standard from Logos. Pretty low I'd say.... really low.
And let's not bring up the disappointment of Logos Connect.
Thank you

Actually I am pleased to see Faithlife address bugs and design flaws as I see the lack of polish as the weakness of the software. I have, in some forum posts, encouraged them to concentrate on cleaning up the already acknowledged bugs. However, it is also likely when a version is primarily bug fixes that it is because the programmers are working on a larger project that had no deliverables available in this particular cycle. The in progress items on feedback.faithlife.com sometimes give you a hint of what that project might be. My personal guess since the WordSearch conversion promised some form of a LessonMaker and since it is marked as in progress, it may be the bigger project. If it isn't, I would expect it in Logos 10.
As a retired IT professional, I do understand why many users are disappointed by bug fixes only releases.

I respect what is important to you is different to what is important to me. But I love to see releases all about bug fixes, even if they are ones that have not directly affected me. This is the standard I have been wanting from FL. The way I see it is new features are for big releases, not for every minor release, those are primarily for exactly what FL is doing bug fixes.

I also have to disagree with this. Bug fixes and usability enhancement are crucial to the reliable, efficient use of a complex program like Logos. Don't get me wrong, I love new features. But make sure the current ones work to their fullest capacity and are not hindered by bugs or usability issues. I do have to say the new sermon builder auto-fill feature is fantastic and one I've been meaning to suggest for a while.

I figure that if a “bug fix” update improves quality of life in using the program, I’m happy. Of course, I’m only using a fraction of what it can do.

I'm a fan of bugfixes. I think there does seem to be a policy shift away from the connect idea of new features for subscribers, this is no longer a thing right? I guess new features are now kept for the big release?

Not for a while I don't think.

- It seems to me that a very useful feature of the sermon editor is now missing. Like all expository preachers, I use a ton of cross references in my sermons but I also use the "bullet points" in my manuscript, such as appears to the left of the words that I am typing. And one of the useful features that I enjoyed was not having to turn the bullet point off in order to bring in a cross reference into the sermon manuscript. All I did was type the verse reference and Logos formatted it the correct way. After "upgrading" to 9.9, that feature seems to be missing. Once again, I am having to turn the bullet point off in order for Logos to bring the verse into the manuscript, and then have to turn it back on. May seem like a small thing, but I loved the time saving feature of not having to turn that bullet off/on in order to bring in a verse and then have the bullet automatically be below the verse and just keep on typing. Was a time saving feature that I loved and used and am greatly disappointed that it is missing...would like to see it return. Now, if I am missing something, please let me know. Thanks, folks!

I would say that it is going to be, it you go by their normal practice of release, another year.

It's actually pretty normal for the scales to tip from mostly new features to mostly bug fixes over the course of the two-year major version cycle. If you go back and look at release notes, you will see many new features and enhancements in the earlier releases and then more and more bug fixes in the later ones within a major version. They introduce more bugs whenever they release new features, at some point they need to fix those. I too am glad they're focusing on bug fixes. Logos 8 and 9 seem like they've been in constant flux and some version releases were extremely disruptive either because of major bugs or simply unfinished features. It's about time Faithlife focuses resources on cleaning up some of the mess introduced in Logos 8/9 and fixing old bugs that we've been complaining about literally forever.

How much space on my Macbook Pro do I need in order to index this upgrade. Mine says it is updating but it doesn't seem to finish. I have only 7 GB left on a 121 GB. (I know, I probably need to upgrade my computer...)

Your drive is slowing down your computer as it does not have enough swap space.
Check on upgrading to a 250 gb ssd.... they are resonable this time of the year.
Wish you well.

Yes, I agree. I just ordered a MBP with:
M1 chip
8-core CPU
8-core GPU
16-Neuro Core Engine
512 GB SSD
That should do it.
Thanks

It should indeed especially if you make good use of iCloud storage.

I know the older model is much more nicer to my eyes.
But NO, do not. Cancel it and purchase the newer one. The new SSD is sooooo much faster. Up to 7,4GB/s.

Jim, I had a similar problem with my hard drive filling up. In my case I learned via a tech expert with Best Buy that it was just an endless loop of indexing. He went into my computer and entered some command code that stopped it and also removed the indexing data that was filling the hard drive. I now have my hard drive back in a usable state (about 50% full). Hope this info is of any help possible.

It's taken an evening to set up this MBP. I have over 5400 resources in Logos. So it's taking time to index everything. But I have plenty of space. I also use iCloud, Dropbox as well as Box for online storage. I'm glad I got the 512 GB SSD. It's already down to 390 GB of usable space. That will be plenty, but I'm glad I spent the extra money.
Thanks for all the help.

Warren Dane, what do you mean by an endless loop of indexing? How can you removed it? Does it effort the program?

Yep... should be mucho better! Good for you!
Just remember.... a rule I learned years back .... "All programs will grow to a point of using all available space!"
