Unable to remove reading plan reminder in Outlook 2003

I have a reminder that keeps popping up in Outlook 2003 that is titled "Read the NIV in a year" (or something very similar). When I try to dismiss or open the item, I get an error. The icon in my Reminders window looks like a script. I have not been able to figure out how to remove this script. I think that somehow I initiated this reminder when I first received Logos 4 and was playing with the Outlook integration. I have other Bible reading reminders appearing also, and I think I have turned this into a "reminder mess" out of ignorance. Can anyone provide me with some guidance on how to clean this up and delete this script?

When the reminder comes up again, before you open it, can you try right-clicking on it and then delete?

Dominick,
Thanks for replying. When I try to open the reminder item, I get the message "Cannot open the item for this reminder. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment." When I try to dismiss the reminder, I get the message "Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid." After I get that error message when attempting to dismiss, the reminder goes away for the day, but is back the next day.
Best regards,
Jeff

Hmm. First thing that comes to mind when illogical things are happening is that the OUtlook file is corrupted. There is a scan tool that will try to fix it, check out this site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497
or Google scanpst and read about it. I have used it in the past, although I am on Outlook 2010 now. See if you think this makes sense to try, and let us know!

Try this link too:
http://lastplaceonthe.net/fix-outlook-turn-reminder-errors/
and Google "Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid." (include quotes)
You can also Google Outlook cleanreminders and see if that helps, it does some fix-up of the reminders.
Let us know what success this all brings!

Dominick,
I used scanpst and it found several problems in my main pst file, and it fixed all of those. That is a handy tool! However, that did not fix the problem. I also tried starting outlook with the /cleanreminders switch, but that also did not work. Finally I walked through the steps to use MFCMAPI, and that did remove the problem, and all of my reminders. For those reading this, in one of the last steps before you use the Delete Messages command, it looks like you have the opportunity to select specific reminders to delete. That would probably be worth trying if you did not want all of your reminders deleted.
Even with that minor side effect, I am thrilled to have all of that cleaned up. Thanks much for your suggestions and help! For future reference, the page that solved the problem was http://lastplaceonthe.net/fix-outlook-turn-reminder-errors/ .

Jeff
