I try to highlight resources, you'd not guess their value. Primarily from a background perspective.
This volume really has a lot of in-depth articles on OT curiousities (though not its goal):
- The power of ones 'staff' ... showing up in the early middle-east cultures. Moses vs the Egyptians.
- Awakening the dead ... a major risk ... Samuel ... why did you wake me?!
- Why didn't Reuben defend his sister ... he was oldest?
- How you could cross the Jorden, on the way to Hebron
- Early Pharisee/Saduccee discussions
- Translational choices and biases.
On the latter, Sarna participated in translating Psalms. An article discusses the arguing over what words meant, illustrating .... it's not that clear. A before (Sarna) and after (committee; NJPS) is provided ... often the latter difficult to track back.
