B2 Minor Search Glitches
These may all be known, and/or they may be hard to replicate, but here's some things I've seen.
- I am glad the autocomplete window now goes away when a user runs a search, but it's still glitchy. If I type my search and hit enter before the autocomplete window comes up, the window still comes up but doesn't go away. I almost always ignore the window and usually type my search faster than the window can pop up, so the window still gets in my way most of the time.
- In Windows, the magnifying glass search button at the top can be dragged and docked into the main window, letting me place the search whenever I want it. This doesn't seem to work in the Mac version, I have to click the magnifying glass, then move the search window where I want it after it opens. Would like to just drag it to open it, as with the Windows version.
- This one may be the hardest to duplicate since it's been inconsistent and it may just be something weird that I'm doing. On a few occasions, I'll open search, run a search, then want to run another search so I'll click in the search box then type cmd-shft-left arrow key to select all the text, but on more than a few occasions, cmd-shift-left arrow key will not do anything. Shift-left will still select one character, but cmd-shift-left won't select the whole line. Behavior is not consistent; right at this moment it's working the way it should. Earlier, I couldn't get it to select the whole line.

I had a play with this and found that you must type a lot faster than I can to stop the window populating. However when I did manage to get the drop down stuck ( and I can confirm it does) I found that if I click in the window underneath it the drop down goes away.

Also tried this out on my system an could not replicate but wonder why Cmd-Shft-Left (or Right arrow) better combination than Cmd-A?

Computer speed is probably a factor. I have a top-of-the-line Macbook Pro - three years ago.
The program overall still runs pretty sluggish for me (though it's still worth noting that the PC version within a virtual machine is snappier than the Mac version, look forward to Beta fixes speeding things up). Habit, since I'm used to Cmd-A selecting a whole document and Cmd-Shift-Left selecting just a line; in search I'm selecting just a line so I use what I usually use for a line. But next time I see the glitch show up I'll try out Cmd-A and see what happens.

Meant to comment on this - my usual solution is to hit Escape, which also does away with the window. Wondering if this will eventually end the search itself, but right now it just does away with the autocomplete window.

And another from me - just confirmed that Cmd-A will work even when Cmd-Shift-Left/Right will not work. Don't know why the select-line combination is finicky, but it is.
Just had a search window open and a Bible open. Typed in the search window, hit enter, hit escape to close the autofill window, cmd-shift-left still worked; clicked the reference box of the Bible, typed a reference, clicked back to the search window box, cmd-shift-left wouldn't work. Not sure if the back-and-forth does anything. A weird quirk.

I have a bottom of the range 13in Mac Book with just 2g of ram. I found that it was slowing down on a lot of operations. It speed up no end once I realised that some of the folders (not shortcuts) on my desktop contained large files of pictures and keynote presentations. Clearing the desktop did wonders for the speed of the machine.
