Cannot add a new notebook (MacOS 9.9.0.0011)

The add and search icons are missing. They might be there if I could make the panel wider, but I can't. If I move the pointer to between the two panels it changes to the cursor I would expect for resizing, but clicking and moving it doesn't do anything.

I can't duplicate the issue you're experiencing. Have you tried opening Notes in its own window?

Yeah, I can widen the left panel when I do it in a new window--but why should I have to do that??

I can still widen the Notes panel when I have 3 tabs open evenly on my 16" MacBook. When I have 4 is when I have trouble seeing those icons.
