Quick question ... and more of a tech question than a strictly Logos question.
It would be super convenient if my apps (OneNote, Word, etc) could recognize a scriptural reference and when I click on it ... take me to that scripture in Logos.
Does anyone know how to do this? Even if it is an add-on, I'd love to try it.

Hi Jason,
You can right mouse click on a verse and then select copy reference and then URL. Here is what you get:

Thanks for the reply John. I get the copy and paste functions (both from the text and the dropdown that lets me format the text). What I am wondering is is if there is a way to get my computer to identify scriptural references (let's use Ps 46:10 as an example) and allow me to set a default so if I click on the reference, my computer takes me to Logos much like a hyperlink would take me to my default browser and the site I clicked on.
Again, I believe this refers to the functionality of my computer so I am more wondering about an app or add-in that would allow this.

It was never that convenient but their used to be a Service entry that allowed something similar. I think it may have been discontinued but don't recall why.

I haven't used this recently but if you follow these steps below, I think it will work with Word, not sure OneNote, I'll have to try it myself... here is the Wiki link

I don't know of a way to recognize links automatically in OneNote, but you could link them manually. This works for OneNote and many other apps. I do a manual process in Obsidian, an app that uses markdown.
1. In my Bible in Logos, I copy the link using opt-cmd-c (on a Mac)
2. In my Obsidian note, I paste that link. Because I'm using the "Paste URL into selection" plugin, Obsidian pastes the Logos link in markdown format.
3. Give the link a name.Example:
[John 1:1-18](logosres:esv;ref=BibleESV.Jn1.1-18) shows up as John 1:1-18 in preview mode. Clicking it takes me directly to that passage in Logos.Works the same for non-Bible books. Example:
[Abraham](logosres:lbd;hw=Abraham) shows up as Abraham in preview mode. Clicking it takes me directly to the Lexham Bible Dictionary entry for Abraham.For OneNote, you would need to:
- Copy the Logos link to the Bible reference or book
- Highlight the text you want to use as your link such as John 1:1-18 or Abraham
- Type cmd-k (for Mac)
- Paste the Logos link into the address field
Yes, it's a manual process but the linking feature is great not just for Bible references but much more. Keyboard shortcuts allow you to do everything in a matter of just a couple of seconds. The link to the Logos Wiki that Ralph provided does give more details.

Thanks Dave. I think this may be the closest thing yet. Ultimately, I may need to write something myself.
It would be cool if I could simply tell MS (or Mac if that is your flavor) to recognize any text that looks like a scripture ... as a scripture. Then, if I click the link (or any "scripture link") it would take me to Logos.
This isn't a huge deal but [this is for you Logos developers] it would certainly create user loyalty through repetition of use.
Anywho ... thanks all. I think the answer is, there is no answer.

I am not sure if it is technically possible for Faithlife to develop something that works in all desktop programs similar to Reftagger. But something similar to the clipboard monitor in TheWord Bible Software would definitely be possible (it monitors the clipboard for Bible references and then pops up a window with the test).

Here's what I found in researching this:
- For the Chrome browser, you can install the "Bible Scripture Tagger" extension. Very powerful and flexible.
- For the Firefox browser, you can install the "Bible Previewer" add-on. It works quite well.
- For other desktop apps, "Instaverse" (made by WordSearch) used to provide this Bible text popup function. But now I can't get it to work on Windows 10. I tried changing the program's compatibility and it still gave errors and crash out. Can others try?
