Problem with Wordsearch Outlines

Apparently Wordsearch Outlines does not "link".  When I do the link "A" with other books, Wordsearch Outlines does not follow.

What shared index are you trying to link on? Check the available indices in the information panel of the resource.

Sorry bout that... shoulda put that info in....   I was trying to use the L4 link. BUT.... I learned something at about 2 AM this morning....

When you have about 5 or more books open (as I usually have about 8-9) then the L4 links in some books does not work or at least not for me.

But when I have only 1 book open the L4 link works like it should.  I found this morning .... for that to be the case with more than one book (I.e. Holman's Bible Outlines, New Unger's Bible Handbook and WordSearch Outlines) so far.

I think when you have more than 5 books open at the same time (in a layout as I do) the L4 link gets confused and gives up.  lol  The L4 link does warn us "MAY NOT WORK IN SOME APPLICATIONS"  - guess I found out that many books open is "some applications". [:|]

Edit: When I have my layout open with many books in it.... I did not try to close the particular book and then open it in a "floating window"...  I'll try that today.... but now..... time to get ready to worship God.... One of my favorite things...

You are missing an essential piece of the puzzle. L4 relates only to creating URL style links while set A relates only to a temporary link between resources based on a common index. L4 has no relationship to the resources that are open. while set A disappears when a resource is closed. Set A requires that the resources have a common index (yes, there is one exception). For Bibles and Bible commentaries that is a Bible index; for other books it is often English headwords. Please provide a description of what you are trying to do, and one of us will help you do it.

yep... got confused and mixed two things together in my hast... my bad.

I have a resource (book) called WordSearch Outlines....

So I create a layout with that book in it... and I set all my books in that layout to track or scroll together. Everything works....  Except WordSearch Outlines. It does not track or scroll.

That's what I was trying to point out in this thread. All the other confusing of my mind is because of being hurried and not knowing what I was thinking.... or thinking out of the other side of my brain.... [8-|]

The book WordSearch Outlines does not scroll with other books when they are link together say in Link "A"...

Started anothe4 thread with the problem of the "L4" link..... sorry to have shown the confusion of my mind... really... I am ok... I think.. lol

I think you want to say those other books are bibles, commentaries, bible notes and such, i.e. they all are indexed by a bible datatype? You need to put bible milestones into your PB, like

[[@Bible:jn 3]] in a section outlining John chapter three

and compile it as type "bible commentary" or such for it to scroll along.

    I understand and thanks.

But I was talking about the WordSearch Outlines Book itself. I can link my NKJV to other books in my library by using the LinkSet "A" or "B" etc. and they will scroll as I read or jump around in my NKJV.  But with the WordSearch Outlines..... It don't work.

Thats what I'm talking about here.... Sorry about not being more clear.

Please open your WordSearch Outlines resource. Using the Panel menu (3 dots/kebab) open the information panel. Scroll down to the indexes section. Take a screen shot and post it - if it lacks a Bible index then the answer you have been given is correct; if it has a Bible index then there is a bug to identify and report.

This is what MJ was talking about in her post directly above, and she is correct.

The Resource "WordSearch Outlines" does NOT have any indexing, so it can not track the way you want it to.

This is a screenshot of the Info for that resource (at least the one I have by that name).

Thanks Roy - I now see I got that same resource in my library: LLS:WS_0_755, I think I've never used it - and it's an edition:eBook without any index. Not sure whether FL intends to make a Logos edition with bible index of it or leave it as it is. The outlines are rather high-level and straight-forward (which means, the book can be used without tracking along, I think) - what can be done if users really want this to work: exporting the book's content to Word and then putting the milestones in - book-level would suffice, I think - and recreating as a PB of e.g. type "bible notes". This then would scroll along when put into a link set (it's an easy task - however, I think the source file of such a PB can't be shared here for copyright reasons).

I did this for some NT letters (which come out as about two pages Word text) as a quick proof of concept:

    image

After export I just formatted the headings style (for the ToC) and put in milestones as follows:

    [[@Bible:hebrews]]Hebrews

then built the PB - I see the ref.ly links don't work in my book, but scrolling along does work.
