Performance on Exegetical Guide in Beta 3 is really bad

Steps to reproduce

Start Logos.

Type in Genesis 22:1-19 in the Passsage bar and Click Go.

Wait the required time for the process to complete (This is as slow as Logos 3 on Windows and the previous Mac version)

Click on the Exegetical Guide tab.

Takes a number of seconds to even display

Try scrolling,

Very difficult.

Makes the Exegetical Guide impossible to use for passages longer than a verse or two,

I am experiencing the same problem. I did it for Acts 17:16-34 and I can't use the exegetical guide, its slow to scroll. I am glad that at least the reverse interlinears can provide the same access, but I'd rather use the exegetical guide.

Not only is it difficult/slow to scroll (regardless of whether using the scrollwheel on a mouse or directly manipulating the scrollbar), but notes tabs get duplicated such as seen here:

And then, clicking on one of the tabs produces this:

...and actual notes cannot be added as far as I can tell.

Are you letting the Exegetical Guide finish generating before scrolling? I noticed the "working" indicator is missing (bug) and when I was trying to scroll it was really jerky and slow. The Exg. Guide is doing a Word by Word on every word in all of those verses. That takes a long while to generate (even on my newer iMac). The larger the Exg. Guide gets the less noticeable the bar moving becomes. So make the panel/tab active and scroll down again and watch it rise and see what happens after it is done generating whether or not it becomes easier to scroll. You can confirm it is done by making sure the last word in the Word by Word is the last word in the last verse.

The Windows version is faster, but the Windows version is also finished....and older. The Mac version...still in Beta. So optimization is still needed.

Hi,

I have been waiting for it to finish for about half an hour or so. I had to shut down my computer because of another update of software (not L4). It seems stuck, before I shut down it was stuck at Acts 17:30 and wouldn't finish the last four verses. The same thing has happened.

Will this be that way in the final version? Some passages are longer than 15 verses, and I would prefer not to have to do multiple exegetical guides. There was never a limit on earlier versions of Logos (Mac or Windows). I hope in the future we will have the option of doing as many verses as needed by the passage being studied.

The 15 verse limit is the same in Windows. So you would have to successfully petition via suggest@logos.com/Suggestion page in forums or Customer Feedback for Logos Bible Software to get that to change.

Ok, thanks, when I said Windows I meant Logos 3 and Logos X not Logos 4 on Windows. But thanks for letting me know the process.
