Custom reading plan without tying to a specific Bible translation?

Hello,

Can you make a custom bible reading plan that isn’t necessarily tied to a particular translation? I read the ESV, so when I make a custom reading plan, it’s in the ESV. If someone tries to read that on their Faithlife Study Bible app, they would have to buy an ESV bible license to read the plan. Although, it seems like the ESV is available to read on the logos mobile app (confused about that still). Some folks prefer other translations, so I'm hoping that just because I create a plan using one translation, others can take those same passages and read in their preferred translation.

No. The reading plan is tied to whatever resource you choose, but it is tied to a resource.

If you are doing a group read, then I think it would be tied to the resource. I if you are creating the plan and they are reading on their own, they can change it to whatever resource they want.

There are "free to use, but you don't own" resources on mobile. The ESV is one of those. In the case of the ESV, if someone does not own it, they have online access to it, but not offline.

I think the custom bible reading plans are different in that regard. I actually don't know about the FSB app (and struggle in using the Logos Bible app installed on my android phone), but in the desktop application you can display the bible reading plan(s) in any bible you choose.

The custom reading plan I read (and share every year with the German user group on Logos) is based on a Passage List from the German-language Luther Bible edition 2017 which happens to be my preferred bible at the moment and thus shows in the screenshot below. However, the reading plan shows up in the NIV or any other bible when activated in the Visual Filters menu. I think this is a special feature of custom bible reading plans - when building them from references or a passage list rather than from selections - and this does not apply for the predefined or auto-generated bible reading plans.

I wish creating Bible Reading plans was easier. I wanted to create a Scripture Storyline Custom Reading Plan and found one made already by another user but it is tied to the NASB. I hope Logos 10 can make an easier way to create custom bible reading plans.

JT, I know I flooded the forums today--trying to figure out how to use this program has been a challenge!

The thing I'm still struggling with in the group functions is the Community Notes. I had my friend looking at his mobile app today with an Android (I have an iPhone), and he was still unable to write a new community note from the app. Is there known bugs with community notes?

I just created a custom plan and see what you are saying, but on mobile, the reading plan only appears in my prioritized bible. I don't know if this is a bug, or if the reading plan is actually tied to the resource and is using the "corresponding" feature to appear in other bibles on desktop (but not on mobile, which isn't supported).

Follow up to this:

My friend has been able to start this reading plan in his default Bible (NASB) on the mobile app even though I started the plan in ESV and it shows ESV on my mobile app. I have also found that you can apply the filter to the text on the mobile app to show the reading plan in-line with the text even if you have not selected the reading plan outright. I noticed though that on the mobile app, this filter cannot be applied to any other translation of the bible. Is there an easy way to change what translation of the bible shows up next to your reading plan, because it seems to have been pretty seamless to go with your preferred bible when you start, but doesn't seem to be easy to un-do.
