Help a Non-Spanish speaker find resources (Spanish Bible + RI)

Hello,

I am a non-Spanish speaking person who wants to do the following.

I want to have open on one side an English Bible w/RI and on the other side a Spanish Bible also with RI.

What I want to do... click on an English word in one bible and have the corresponding Spanish word be highlighted by utilizing the underlying lemma. I "Think" this will work. For those who know, will it in fact work?

I believe that these are the resources I need.

Purchasing all three will set me back around $66.00.

I see where I can purchase the Spanish language equivalent of the Logos 9 Fundamentals for $100.00.

Are the 1st three resources listed above all that I need to do that which I explained above?

The additional cost of the "Logos 9 Fundamentos" package over and above just the three packages together is not that great ($35.00) and I would hope to fine those resources useful in my attempt to learn the Spanish language (The whole reason for doing this exercise in the first place - yea, I'm crazy) .

Hi Roy:

I don't speak Spanish either (but I hear it around the house a lot [:)]). But I can tell you that you're in luck Providence: Fundamentos is currently $50.

The behavior you describe is the Corresponding Words Visual Filter, and it is part of Fundamentos.

Yes, it will work with the visual filters. Now, as far as learning Spanish that way, I can’t guarantee that since Reina Valera 1960 doesn’t really use modern Latin American Spanish. It uses Spanish from Spain with some old words. For us is kinda like Thee’s and Thou’s KJV English. Today you don’t use that…same with Latin American Spanish, we don’t speak like they do in Spain, but we understand it. Hope that helps 👌

In addition to the Fundamentos package you should consider buying the Merriam-Webster Spanish-English Dictionary. I have found this resource very useful.

When I started to use Logos (or Libronix as it was then called) there were no Spanish reverse interlinears. In order to learn Spanish I made a three year Bible reading plan using the Reina Valera 1995 which I read side by side with the Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek text. Since I had already learned French and Latin in secondary school I did not find it very hard to read Spanish and Portuguese.

Even if it is not your goal to learn to speak the language I would still advise you to complement your Spanish reading in Logos with some basic language course (whether a textbook or an app).

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I did go ahead and pull the trigger on the Logos 9 Fundamentos package.

Thank you Robert M. Warren for mentioning the discount price. I was able to pick the package up at that price point.

Thank you to DAL also. The package included what is (I believe) suppose to be the Spanish version of the NLT so a bit more updated as far as language goes. Nueva Traducción Viviente (NTV) for those interested.

And HJ. van der Wal thank you also for your suggestion on the Spanish dictionary (Merriam-Webster Spanish-English Dictionary).

I actually already had this resource as I purchased it a while back when I had started this learning project but then had put it on hold until I could find what I needed to get a Spanish RI.

So, I'm off to the races, so to speak.
