The Logos Wiki has help on

and

Creating a Full Path & Filename

Instructions for Windows users

However, those instructions are "for Windows users" and do not seem to work on my MacBook Pro. I can create such links to Word .DOCX and PDFs in both Word and Scrivener. The prefix is file:///. But the same method does not work in Logos Bible, so far as I can tell.

Are there specific instructions for Mac user who want to simply create links to files within Notes?

Thank you.

The Notes tool for Logos 8/9 has a bug that prevents links to external files/documents from executing or being properly formatted  e.g.

if I enter the path C:\Users\Dav\Documents\links.docx into the link box it is converted to https://c/Users/Dav/Documents/links.docx??  MS Word converts the same path to file:///C:\Users\Dav\Documents\links.docx which works. But if I enter that in Notes it is converted to file:///C:/Users/Dav/Documents/links.docx, which does not work.

Dave: For clarification, you are saying that it doesn't currently work in Windows, right?

I am not sure that this has ever worked on Mac, which would explain why there aren't specific directions for Mac users. KS4J would probably the most likely MVP to know for sure.

I'm echoing that what apparently does not work on MAC also does not work in Windows i.e. links to external files from Notes  I note that the same file:/// link works in Clippings via CTRL+Click.

I seem to remember that FL confirmed they either actively removed or did not counter OS changes that had the effect of removing this functionality -  the reason stated was that for security reasons applications shouldn't have more or less arbitrary access to files anyplace on the hard drive. So I believe this doesn't work on Windows for some time now (there should be forum discussions about that), not sure if it ever worked on Mac and how.

See my edited post, as it works from Clippings. It also works from MS Word, albeit with the customary warning.

The Notes field within Clippings (which you refer to, I assume) seems to be its own functionality, not storing data in the Notes tool. Thus it is possible for Logos to have such a feature => maybe it could brought back in to Notes as well. Some time ago, contemplating a special usage scenario, I was even considering running a small webserver on localhost for such disk access.

EDIT: I can confirm it a) works like a charm, putting the file:/// in front and doing its own conversion of backslash to slash, the Ctrl-Click will automatically invoke an application to open the file b) doesn't work with spaces anywhere in the pathname

Dave, this is exactly the situation on a MAC. ⌘-Click (Command-Click instead of Control-Click) opens an external file using the appropriate application from inside a CLIPPINGS NOTE, but not from Notes. Why one and not the other?
