It's an interesting issue. When I use illustrations in a sermon that I've read elsewhere I rarely quote where I found the illustration. But I don't expect my sermons to ever be published. I hadn't realised it was Sinclair Ferguson that the book was accused of plagiarising as I seemed to recall a lot of stories borrowed from Boice's commentaries, but maybe they were referenced in Thomas' book more clearly.

I'm pleased to have the book in Logos and because I don't write scholarly articles, I don't worry about where ideas come from. I'm more concerned to prepare sermons that will feed the flock and challenge those that don't yet know Jesus.
