Does anyone know why Logos waits till you start using it to index? It will sit idle on my computer overnight, but the second I start using it, it says it's indexing. Today again, it was open on my idle computer for hours, but did nothing until I started using it, then immediately it started indexing. Why would it do this? It's almost like it was designed to wait till you start using it to index. Is there no way you can tell it to index during certain hours of the day, or when your computer has been idle for so long? It seems like it would be much more efficient to have it indexing during idle times and overnight, or during some specified hours of the day.

Hello Randy, thanks for your post. Indexing is a paradoxical thing in Logos. I would like to keep logos indexing 24/7/365 but it needs to be doing it daily and when my pc is in sleep mode. What does everyone else think?

I'm not sure why it did that. Perhaps your computer/hard drives were sleeping? It might be good for you to verify your OS settings. In any case, here is the order that is supposed to happen:

Download resources / updates
Restart the application
Indexing takes place

You should receive notification of a download (size in MB or KB) before Logos starts indexing (the app does not have to be restarted after the download). Check your settings (Tools > Program Settings) for specific times it can download:

With the above, it could finish downloading without you being aware and then start indexing as you describe. The best way to control indexing is to make that setting = NO. You should allow new resources to download.

Is the always on PC working or sleeping? See power in settings in Power and Sleep.

Is when plugged in PC goes to sleep set to never? Other wise it may not be doing anything.

Or if on a MAC ask a MAC person like JT (alabama24) how to check if the MAC is really on or just pretending.

As far as I know, it doesn't go to sleep. That was a good guess, though.

On a second check, it does appear the system is scheduled to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. That's probably it.
