Prioritize Resources Strategy

For general usage such as devotions, Bible study and lesson preparation what prioritization strategy makes sense? Is it better to prioritize lots of resources?

I have several categories for prioritization: Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries, Study Bibles, Backgrounds, Maps and Atlases, and of course Misc. In some categories I have 20-30 items prioritized. Does this make sense?

It doesn't make much sense to prioritize resources that would not benefit from prioritization. Why prioritize devotionals? Resources that make sense are ones which have versification and/or headwords.

I take a slightly different approach than JT - I do prioritize devotional, service books, etc. My rule of thumb is if a layout or guide section is not in the order I want and it responds to prioritization, prioritize it. Sometimes, I only prioritize a single resource - the one I want the layout to pick up.

See https://wiki.logos.com/A_Sample_Prioritize_List and note restricted use of Calendar Devotionals and Lectionary. I assume you mean Bible Dictionaries, but where are "Backgrounds" and Maps/Atlas used that you need to prioritize them? What do you mean by "Misc"?

The Commentaries section in Passage Guide also accepts Study Bibles and Bible Notes, so you should prioritize 1-3 of these with Bible Commentaries. You can easily prioritize 20-30 Commentary series and/or individual volumes, but you don't need that many for the others when split by language e.g. 5-8 English Bibles, 1-5 Greek Bibles, 1-5 Hebrew Bibles.

You prioritize lexicons by language, but need to decide where to place Theological and Analytical ones.

I have drag and dropped my resources into the Prioritize Resource window in the Library. Is that all, or is there more I am supposed to be doing.

Yep - It would be well to review the training videos and the help file. One needs to categorises one's resources and then prioritise within that category. Some people have even created personal books to use as category dividers. I have never got round to doing that but my list looks like this.

Prioritisation does not affect order of search results - it does affect things like the order in which Commentaries appear in Guides and which Dictionaries / Lexicons are used for word lookup

Thanks to all the MVP responses. I have a much better understanding of how prioritization is actually used and that understanding can now inform my choices. Time to clean house!

Thank you. That's what I thought. So I am trying to change the order in both of your examples above, especially which Lexicons appear first.

Did it matter is the resource is a Personal Book?

Thank you. I've created those dividers and it help keep my categories in order. I will review how I set up my list and I will review the training videos.
