Collection types

I'm trying to create a collection of English translation Bibles published since 1950, but can't remember how to define the pubdate: rule.

Since I was working on this, I wondered if there is a (somewhat comprehensive) master list of rules for creating collections? I realize that there are all sorts of possibilities: teens, church history, etc., but is there a kind of "top 100" that seems to be floating around?

According to http://wiki.logos.com/Collections one should use the "pubdate" field.

The example given in that article shows:

"Publication Date can be very beneficial if you want to limit your collection to more recent resources, or resources of a given generation. For instance if you want to limit your Journals collection to issues between 1990 and 2000 you would include (pubdate:>=1990 AND pubdate:<2000) in your string."

The string technically is type:bible AND lang:english AND pubdate:>=1950

However, Logos don't always use the pubdate field properly, and often fill it with the date of the electronic publication, which is a pain. You'll have to manually remove some entries.

I used "type:Bible pubdate:>1950 lang:English" without the quotes and got a list of 35 resources in my library.

AH, Mark & I were typing at the same time. He noted that the pub date may not be the original publish date. I just noticed KJV twice in my list.

The most comprehensive list of collection rules is at the bottom of the wiki page on Collections which Graham mentioned. It is by no means exhaustive, and I'm sure others have posted some suggested collection rules here and there on the forums. Everyone's needs for collections will differ. So if you don't find what you're looking for there, ask on the forum and people will help you come up with a collection rule for what you need.

Someday perhaps Logos might let us export all our collection descriptors so it will be easier for those with large numbers of useful collections to share them with other folks. For now it is a manual process to add them to that Collections wiki page if we come up with one we think others might find useful.
