Downloading Resources Hanging at 99%

Greetings Beloved,

I have an issue every time I attempt to install Logos I get to 99% on the Downloading Resources screen at it just hangs. Can anyone suggest why it is doing this?

I'm running the PC version. I tried to cancel download but it just starts all over and goes to 99% and hangs again. My monthly download limit is getting low too.

Have you tried restarting the computer as it should begin indexing with what has been downloaded? Do you have a working installation of L4 or is this your first attempt?

Did you cancel the download by right clicking the little blue Logos icon ?

This is my first attempt. I have cancelled by right clicking on the Logos icon. I will do that again and restart windows and see if that has any effect.

Ok I rebooted it is now still on the Downloading Resources screen but its hanging on 0% of 543.0 KB. That must be the 1% that is left.

Start Logos4 (L4) whilst holding the Ctrl key down. Elect to Work Offline, go to Tools | Program Settings and change Automatically Download Updates to NO.

Cancel the current download and restart L4. It should start indexing (you'll see a popup & a box stating Preparing your Library). When L4 finally opens ignore the notice about downloads available (click the X to get rid of it). When you click on Library you should see how many resources you have in the Find box.

My windows account is a standard user account when I installed I was requested by Windows 7 for Admin password which I gave it then installed Logos 4. Would that have anything to do with it?

It seems I have found the issue. If I install it under admin account it installs the pre requistis then installs LBS4 installer. Under the restricted standard user account it skips the pre requistis step and goes straight to LBS4 installer. I'll keep you posted.

No. It needs Admin elevation for the first part of the installation (PreRequisites).

How much data (Files/Folders & size) is in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\DownloadManager (make sure you can view Hidden Files & Folders).

Enable permanent logging as per Diagnostic_Logging. Then start L4 normally, type rebuild index in the Command box at top of the L4 window and press Enter. Upload the logos4.log and logos4indexer.log if it does not work (and before you start L4 again).

EDIT: You might start downloading all over!

I only have DownloadManager.db 4 KB DownloadManager.db-journal 0 KB only in that folder. Plus I installed Logos on drive programe files/Logos4

The Indexer log shows the 4.0 GB download as failing with a BITS error (L4 uses the same download method as Windows Update). It is trying to download to \Program Files\Logos4 but thinks the destination volume has changed.

Are you downloading from C:\Users\Administrator account when you did a custom installation from another non-Admin account?

How big is \Program Files\Logos4? Do you have a Logos4 folder at C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\ or in the non-Admin user account? How big is that folder?

EDIT: I'm trying to see if and where you actually downloaded any of the 4GB, because when it is failing like this nothing is being downloaded despite the % completion indicator!

I have done a fresh install since then from within the Administrator account and I am now downloading from that account.

\Program Files\Logos4 is only a 100MB it should be 8.5 GB. Yes both accounts have the Logos4 folder but they are old uninstall left overs with no exe and only 100MB in each.

No data is being downloaded.

If Logos4Indexer.log shows "Warn DownloadJob BITS error 0x8020000E " then nothing is happening. Try

Delete 2x Updates.db files in \Program Files\Logos4\Data\10lvdv1g.yyk\UpdateManager\
Delete 2x DownloadManager.db files in \Program Files\Logos4\Data\10lvdv1g.yyk\DownloadManager
Delete C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\DownloadProgress-10lvdv1g.yyk.db (or similar)

Did the above no changes still the same issue. I noticed \Program Files\Logos4\Data is read only an so is data. Everytime I remove the settings in properties it re applies read only again.

Don't trust that; the settings on the Security tab tell the real story. But that's not the issue ...

Did the above no changes still the same issue.

If the BITS error is still showing then we'll have to wait for a response from Logos tech. Upload the latest logs for their inspection.

I shrank the drive and created a new drive F: and formatted it. It seems drive is not being recognized or its changed. I will now attempt to install on F: drive. Downloading going allot more slower seems to be working plust Logos4 folder is gradually increasing in size.

Windows 7 > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk management.

My drive had 150GB I was not using it all so you right click and select shrink drive and then an unpartitioned drive appears format and then assign a drive letter.

Logos is now working fine.

I'm pleased, but still puzzled about the drive. Is it a fixed drive or removable?
