Traditional vs New Perspectives on Paul

What is the difference between the traditional views on Paul and the New Perspective of Paul movement? I know the New Perspective is contentious and lofty. I also know that Sanders, Dunn, and Wright are the three major proponents. Any advice on how to study this in Logos?

I would start with the Factbook entry on new perspective - study what the dictionary article says and then check on resources in the section for additional reading. That should provide a good start

I'm not criticizing the resource nor disagreeing; but the advert copy is so .... I don't know ... maybe a bit short of BS'y.

"no little new ground has been tread [the opposing authors] ...... bring together over a dozen experts in these thick volumes [these authors] .... fresh, a new look at Paul .... special awareness of the literature ..... Comprehensive and deep ... strong case for a reconsideration of the “New Perspective on Paul” ... rare treatment of the ancient literature that influenced this early apostle."

I'm sure in just hours away, there will be another rare treatment, at least a dozen experts, all fresh, and with special awareness. And deep. Very deep.

I know the New Perspective is contentious and lofty.

It's only contentious because there's another perspective that's not the "New Perspective". However, after several decades of being out there, it's interesting to see a type of Hegelian dialectic at work in Pauline scholarship. My advice would be to read openly, diversely, and recently; there are lots of resources in Logos to support that effort.
