Beta 2 & 3 Cut & Paste to Pages Corrupts the Document

I thought this was a fluke when I saw it happening - but I saw this in Beta 2 and now in Beta 3. When you Cut & Paste Bible Text from B3 into iWork Pages 09 Document - the document becomes corrupt to the point where Pages won't allow you to save the document. Nothing crashes so there is no Log that I can print to capture the particulars. Just simply doing a cut/paste from ESV Bible in B3 - paste into a Pages Document - the Pages Program freezes (does not crash) - the only option the program will respond to is Close Document.

Is anyone else seeing this occur?

I cannot reproduce Pages' inability to save after pasting Gen 27:14. Can you see if pasting the text into Text Edit and then Pages, or from a web page into Pages to see if that causes Pages' to not be able to save your document? What citation(s) in the Bible have you been copy+pasting from?

Tommy - I think I figured it out - try the NLT - go to 1John 4:20-21 - notice the Asterisk at the end of verse 21 - if you select verses 20& 21 and omit the asterisk - the cut/paste works fine. If you happen to include the asterisk it hangs. You might want to experiment to see if any other notations within the text cause the same thing to happen. Give that a try and see if you get the same results.

I've tried the selection you cited in the NLT as well as other passages which had asterisks at the end of the verses. I have yet to get Pages or L4 to hang doing this. Have you tried the other paste attempts I referenced in my last post? Does this happen in other books that you try with? What about from Notes? can you make a note and paste that and get the same results?

Tommy - just to be sure we are defining hang the same way - I mean after you paste - try and save the document - then Pages says that the document cannot be saved. Even if you try a Save As - you get the same error message. Here is the error message.

Yeah. It saves fine for me. I'd still try to see if pasting form different sources doesn't lead to the same result.

Hi Mike

I too have tried the steps you suggest and cannot reproduce the bug.

I do notice that when I paste into the new document that the asterisk is now followed by a superscript 1 and footnotes are generated at the bottom of the page.

Also I am using OS 10.6.4 and Pages 4.0.3
