Question For Faithlife About PBB and EPUB

I was reading some documentation and descriptions and saw that Ebooks are simply EPUB files that have been loaded into the library by Faithlife. If the software can already handle Epub conversion, would it not be simple to enable this as a file type for PBB compiles?
For example, I get epub books free from publishers for review and would love to add these to my library. Currently I have to do a lot of converting to get this to work.

This works against FL's interests. It is doubtful they would invest any time and energy into this effort.

I can understand that, but it seems that the architecture is already there? You could technically say the same thing by allowing Docx files at all.
