Problem with PB versions

So... I create a Personal Book.... then find I need to do more editing... so I delete the book and edit it and then rebuild the personal book .... I do this with several files and then create a series in each file....

So I fire up my NKJV (the one the apostles carried in the hip pocket of their Levis Surprise) ... open one of the Personal books I built of the series... then link them and the NKJV...  and then give a new reference in the NKJV of one of the other Personal Books I built in this series....

But... the results are that my reference in the NKJV pops up the first Personal book and not the one I made the changes too.

Soo... How do I delete the old Personal Books since the delete in Personal Books does not seem to do it?

And...  I did reboot Logos.... same affect.

Edit:  I found this "delete PB" and ran through it, but it didn't work for me. Still have problem above. The way I'm eyeballing this now is... in reality, you can only build a Personal Book one time only or else the delete and rebuild doesn't work for the newer Personal Book.

Edit 2: I am rebuilding the library index... hope that works.

Sorry xnman, maybe it's too early in the morning in my timezone, but I have read your post and still am completely lost as to what you want to accomplish, why you delete PBs at all and what actually goes wrong. Have to grab another coffee - maybe you can elaborate a bit more.

To your Edit 2, though, I wanted to remark that PBs are kept in their own index (and bibles in a third), so maybe reindexing the library resources won't bring any change, unless you meant you are reindexing everything in your Logos.

So edit the .doc master and recompile. Nothing more. No need to try to delete ... which is not a true delete ... just update the original.

It's 04:20 AM here.... I've drank my coffee pot dry trying to get this to work.

I'll re-state.... I created 4 personal books with different names say... x1, x2, x3, x4. compiled them... and they worked. But then I found I needed to edit the .docx file again... which I did and so...I deleted the 4 compiled personal books.... and rebuilt them... x4, x6, x7, x8.

Then I put the for into a series.... opened my Bible and opened one of the books (x7)....  and linked the book to the Bible say... Link A.  Then choose a reference in my Bible to x8... but x8 didn't show up.... x4 showed up. Which would point me to say the index was off. So I re-indexed and rebuilt my library (a long long time)... but still the same results.

When I try to "edit - build" the book ... I get errors and it fails.

I think Personal Books needs some hard work. It ain't right!

Here's the error messages I get when I try to edit the .docx file and re-build.

    [Info] Starting build for PBB:6f0eed149cea47358506ce59dde39148
[Error] Error while building book: Could not remove existing resource. Please close all other open panels and try again.

I think it's the fact the old personal books were not properly deleted and because of that the file pointers are pointing to the old files and never point to the new files.

No. That's a very common error in rebuilding PBs and just says that the PB resource is regarded as "open" somewhere in Logos. Closing any panels will not solve it, but deleting a PB is absolutely unnecessary. Just close Logos and reopen, then start the build anew.

If you are still opening the old books you could look at the Support Info for that resource ( bottom of page after pressing Ctrl-Shift-i whilst in the resource.). That will give the file name *.lbspbb for each file, make a note of the ones you want to delete, eg x4 in your case.

Then, close Logos, search and delete these files, also delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos\Data\(random)\PersonalBookIndex folder if on Windows or equivalent on osx (not sure location), then reopen Logos and let it reindex your personal books.

Yes, as NB noted, if you compile the same PB more than once in a session you will get that message ... it's a bit of a wack-a-mole error that FL has tried to fix. Just close Logos and reopen it.

As always, Thanks to you all. If I had to pay for the info I've gotten on Logos Forum.... You all would be rich by now. lol

    Thanks again.
