What's With the Search Box on Logos.com

First, I'm on Safari and a Mac; each platform seems to react differently.
Sometimes where presenting a product page, there's a little text box, next to 'Search'. If you have a title you're looking for (not a subject, etc), you pretty much type in the dark and hope for the best.
Sometimes there's no text box; if you click on 'Search', it presents a new line and lengthy text box (good).
And of course, when you ARE searching, each time it HIDES the text box, completely confident it'll present perfect search results ... which is never. So you do the click thing again, and hope for the best.
It's Logos!

The long box is only for customers with less than 1050 posts. Smiling.
But there are mysterious goings on in Logosland.

Well, I can now, at least some of the pattern. If you narrow your browser, you get the big search box. If you widen the browser, you get the little search box.
This means folks with more than 1050 posts can now use the big search box.
