Trying to decide if it is worth the investment. Anyone here that currently owns or has benefited from this series and is willing to shed some light on the matter?

I have read Kraus' Theology of the Psalms and can confidently say it is very good reading. I also used his commentary on the Psalms for an exegetical paper. Anything you can get your hands on by Kraus on the Psalms is definitely worth reading. He is my first stop when turning to reference works re:Psalms.
I have nearly all of the volumes which were published in the series Biblischer Kommentar zum Alten Testament, i.e. Westermann, Kraus, Wildberger, Wolff.
BKAT is one of the most renowned academic critical commentary series and I think the BKAT-volumes included in the Continental Commentary Collection are the best of the whole series (the only volumes I'm missing in this collection are those by Zimmerli on Ezechiel). Just one caveat: I believe the first installments of Kraus' commentary were published in German in 1961!
I think the commentary on Leviticus is also worthwhile.
Edit:
I noticed the commentary on Ezechiel by Zimmerli is part of the Hermeneia series: http://www.logos.com/products/details/5072
I noticed the commentary on Ezechiel by Zimmerli is part of the Hermeneia series:
You see, that's just it. I'm taking the $300 dollars that I would have spent on this series and, one of these days, putting it toward the Hermeneia set. Note also that the first installments of Luz's commentary on Matthew were a part of this series. Now they are all a part of Hermeneia.

And if Brian happens to be away on holiday, call me!!! [:D]
Westermann's commentary on Genesis is also excellent.
This is probably the best scholarly commentary series in English together with ICC.
As Mr. van der Wal said, Westermann, Kraus and Wildberger make this a must.
I use them all the time.
The files have been uploaded to the Logos 3 ftp site, so it definitely will be soon!
