Attempting to download mobile Ed audio files takes a long time

I'm trying to download the audio files for a Mobile Ed course to my iPhone and it is taking a very long time (hours) to do so.

I started it going about four hours ago and only about a third of the files have downloaded. The total file size is showing as 81MB and I have plenty of free space on the iPhone

Is this a known issue?

Do downloads pause when the app is not the selected app or when the phone auto-locks?

I disabled auto-lock on the device and the download completed quickly.

It looks as though when the phone is locked, the download is paused.

If that is the case, it would be great if that were changed and the download continued in the background.

I believe this is the case, or at least was the case at one point. One of the reasons I don't recommend large amounts of downloaded material is because the device download has to be "babied" to complete.
