iOS Logos 9: Highlights No Longer Display
After using Logos for several months, having made numerous highlights with notes attached, this morning Logos 9 on iOS will no longer display any of my highlights. I have confirmed that the toggle for "Show Notes/Highlights" is enabled. I have tried manually synchronizing, restarting my phone, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing has made any difference.
When I access Logos 9 on my Windows PC, I do see my highlights, so I know they aren't lost. The night before the highlights disappeared, I was using Logos on my PC, but I have done that before and never had any issues. Another possibility: the "Book Info" page for LEB on my phone appears to show that it may have been updated recently, on the 20th of April. Since this appears to be a publication date, it may not have synchronized down to my phone for several days. Would an updated Bible resource potentially create this problem?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
James Aylard

Yes to your question. Delete the resource and download it again. See if that brings resolution

I thought I could figure out how to delete a downloaded resource in the iOS app, but apparently not.
when I do this, nothing happens. What am I missing?
Thanks.

- Go to the Library and filter for downloaded books.
- Find a book you want to delete (from downloads) and click on the kebob menu (three vertical dots) to the right of the resource.
- Click "Remove Download."
<However>
I forgot that the LEB is unable to be deleted.
Also, your screenshot is not what I expect to see. Which specific version of the app are you running?

I have the same issue. I can create new highlights but existing notes don’t display in the bibles.

What do you see when you check the version details of the LEB? Mine is shown below indicating an update was downloaded on 20th April.
Graham,
The LEB version on my iPhone is identical to yours, which tells me that is not a download timestamp, but probably the timestamp indicating when the resource was revised within the Logos system. Interestingly, I can still see my highlights within the Logos desktop software (running on Windows 11), but that LEB version is 2020-11-23T21:23:55Z. If I am reading my Logos order history correctly, I did not become a Logos user until 2021, so the 2020 timestamp on my desktop version of LEB predates my use of the software and would likely indicate when the resource was last updated within the Logos system.
Can you confirm whether you created highlights in the LEB version prior to 20 April 2022, and whether they continue to display following the apparent update to the LEB Bible on iOS versions of Logos? If yes to both, that may indicate the problem has some other cause.
Thanks,
James Aylard

Thanks, Pierre, for confirming you have the same issue. The question now seems to be whether the issue affects everyone, or just some users?

Another question worth asking: is it possible to apply the highlights of one resource to another? I have to guess the answer is no, because the logistics of aligning highlights on words and phrases within passages could be very problematic.
Still another question: is it possible to revert to an older version of a resource? Again, I am guessing the answer is probably no.
In my mind, this has to be treated as a bug. If my notes are unable to transfer to an updated version of a resource, and I have no control over resource updates, Logos will undo a tremendous amount of work simply by making a minor, maintenance update to that resource. I can't see any way this would reasonably be considered a design feature.
I have submitted an issue to Logos Support, so maybe I'll have a clearer understanding when they reply.
Thanks,

Ditto. I can see my NABRE highlights in the Notes panel. But not in NABRE. New iPhone and Verbum. Notes set to display.

On desktop, yes. Kind of. On mobile, no.

No.
It sounds like there may be some sort of bug.

To add a little more detail here, I just created some highlights and notes for a passage in the updated version of LEB in Logos on iOS, synchronized those updates, and then opened LEB on my PC. Those new highlights do not appear there, although my previous ones do. So it appears that the two versions of LEB are treated as distinct resources. Hopefully LEB on my PC doesn't update, or else my highlights will be truly lost.

I did create a few highlights in the LEB before April 2022 and they no longer display in that resource - it does look as though there is an alignment issue here.
Taking one example - I created a highlight on the words "And he answered" in John 1:21 (I don't know whether I created this on the desktop or on the mobile app).
That highlight is present in the Notes Tool on my iPhone but does not display in the resource. In the Notes Tool on the iPhone it shows as being tied to the words "any, and confess" in John 1:20.
It sounds, as you suggest, that the two versions have got out of sync.
In general, though, highlights are maintained across resource updates so I think (hope) this is a specific issue as opposed to a generic one. Although I do note DMB's comment about something similar on NABRE.

Also have same issue. Running 9.12.0 on Ipad. LEB updated 4-20-2022. Highlights and note icons disappeared from resource, but still in notes document. New highlights can be added and are visible.
It appears the LEB update does not sync with notes created on earlier version.
Logos, is there any way to correct this?

Also, my note and highlight markers do appear in the online desktop version.

I have the exact same issue, which started on April 27. I am also using the LEB version on my desktop, iPad IOS 15.4.1, and Google Pixel phone with Android version 12. Both mobile versions behave the same, with the LEB resources synced between mobile devices but neither will sync with the desktop or web notes and highlights. Also, the notes in the mobile version appear to be corrupted.
In the past, when the mobile version has gone out of sync, I have resolved it by deleting the resource and reinstalling it. This is no longer possible in Logos 9 as the LEB resource is built into the app. Deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't help either.

I just received a reply from Faithlife Support acknowledging the issue and promising a fix:
“Thank you for reaching out to us! We apologize for the trouble, though we are happy to say that a resolution is underway. While we do not have an exact release time for this fix, we are aiming to release an update to the Lexham English Bible within the week to resolve this behavior. We greatly appreciate your patience in the meantime!”

Got it. I needed to re-install the app on both Android and IOS platforms, but I can confirm that both mobile apps are now working properly.
Thank you!

Ali, I can also confirm that the fix worked for me on iOS once I reinstalled Logos. I appreciate your team’s quick response in resolving the issue. Thank you!

As per Ali's post (just above) Faithlife is requesting that, in these situations, we deinstall and reinstall the app.
Are you able to do that?
