Parallel collections

Following Morris Proctor's instructions, I successfully created three collections of that appear as parallel resources in commentaries. They are named "CommentaryExegetical," "CommentaryApplication," and "CommentaryLanguage." However, after following the same procedures with the other three, I have yet been able to create a collection called "CommentaryPastoral" to appear when I click the // button. The other three show, just not "CommentaryPastoral." Any suggestions?

Hi Joey and welcome.

Did you start with a commentary that is part of that collection? In other words, the parallel icon only includes collections that contain the commentary you are looking for parallels to.

I am not at home to be able to look/check exactly how to tell you this but two things come to mind.

1) As per John's suggestion start with a commentary that is in THAT collection. This is one of the reasons that Morris Proctor always suggests to include an All-In-One single volume commentary in every commentary collection. That way you can start with THAT single commentary and have your collections work as expected. It does not matter if you will use That commentary, it is only included to make things work more smoothly.

2) If you have more than (I think it is three) saved collections, they do not all appear when you click on the // icon. There should be a set of right/left <> arrows on the dropdown (maybe the upper right part of the dropdown?). When you have more than will display in that dropdown, you use the arrows to display the others. I am thinking that maybe you did indeed create the collection but just aren't seeing it because there are too many to display at one time.

3) Check with the Collections Tool and see if your collection is listed there. If it is then my guess is #2 above. If not then I do not know.

Ok, just got home and checked. The arrows to move between collections are on the lower right. See pic.

And having used the arrows, you can see the NEXT collection available.

Note the checkmark next to the collection name denotes the currently active collection.

John, thank you SO much! Yes, that was my problem. I did not have a commentary set to that name. I went back and tagged my primary commentary as "CommentaryPastoral" and it worked. This was driving me crazy! Thank you so much for responding! God Bless!
