New Mac with Logos 4 Beta 3 (switching from PC & L3)

I am trying to import notes, prayer lists, etc. but I am not having any luck. I have placed the L3 files into the equivalent location for logos 4 mac but nothing seems to happen when I use the "import" command. I've tried "import all", "import notes", and "import prayer lists" and nothing is imported.

I have downloaded the notes toolbar for L3 and prepared the notes form import and placed the files in /Users/eric/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/<weird#>/Documents/Notes. I have placed the Prayer List files in /Users/eric/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/<weird#>/Documents/PrayerLists.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

L4 uses a different format, so you have to import your notes, prayer lists, etc. into the new format. The only way I know to do this is to use L4 Windows to import them and then they will be syncronised in the cloud to L4 Mac. In other words, the import function only exists is L4 Windows at this time.

Is the import eventually going to work on the mac? If so, I would just rather wait than have to deal with installing, downloading, and indexing.

This is just a hunch and a half memory...

But I am pretty sure that L4 will not look in its own directories for files from another version of the program.

That would be where it expects to place them not to find them.

If you still have the originals in position you could try the Scan (path to original) command and see if that works.

Well, part of the problem is that I do not have an "original" location. This is a new mac and I did not have the mac version of logos 3 to install. So I had to copy the files from a pc running Win7 and L3.

HI Eric,

I am afraid that I think you are on a hiding to nothing with your present route.

If you still have the Windows machine available then it should be relatively easy to install L4 on the windows machine, import the notes etc, sync to Logos servers and then import to the the mac.

Although this sounds like a time consuming exercise it can be set to run overnight providing you stop the machines from sleeping due to inactivity on the keyboard.

I stand to be corrected, but I somehow doubt that direct import of L3 windows notes format into L4 mac format will be possible directly. It may just be possible to import the L4 windows stuff to the mac but the 'sync' route is just so much simpler.

Personally, unless you are desperate to use Notes, I would leave it until the development work on Logos 4 Mac Notes is completed and it is able to import directly. That's what I am having to do, as I don't have a computer capable of running Logos 4 Windows.

Observation: signature is "iMac 21.5 inch • 3.06 GHz • 4GB Memory • Snow Leopard 10.6.4 • 1 TB HDD" => can run Windows virtually or use Boot Camp.

Boot Camp runs Windows faster since Mac OS X not running.

Virtualization and Boot Camp need appropriate Windows license.
