Win7SP1 - Setup was unable to download a required file

Hello Guys.
My system is:
- Phenom II X6 1100T
- 8GB RAM
- Win7 SP1 activated (including some additional updates)
- Net Framework 4.7.2
I have the following problem: I bought Logos8 a few years ago. This winter I had a system crash. Accordingly, I am now trying to reinstall Logos.
I did the installation as follows:
- Microsoft EasyFix51044 installed
- restart the computer
- Installed with version: 8.11.0.17 ...
the installation aborts with the familiar message: Setup was unable to download a required file
I've tried the following so far:
- WindowsUpdateCenter - disabled (recommendation from Logos online contact)
- Regedit (TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 with DWORD DisabledByDefault 0) (Recommendation from Logos online contact)
- BITSAdmin /reset (there were only 2 jobs and 1 was logos itself) NOTHING helped.
Can you help in any way?
PS: I used thesame System few years ago to install and had not any problems.

Welcome,
I'm afraid that you have brought up a problem with an unsupported operating system (MS) and version of Logos (Faithlife). It doesn't help that Logos 8.11 was able to run on Windows 7 in early 2020 because the "Setup was unable to download a required file" message began to appear in early 2021.
If you retained a backup of the system drive you would have access to the installation files for Logos and would just need the latest version of .NET for Windows 7. Note that there is no guarantee that any of this will work, but you should re-enable TLS 1.1, 1.2 before starting.

Better yet upgrade to Windows 10 and install Logos 9.

thank you.
The problem with my backup is - it doesn't contain a Logos installation. So I'll try to install logos und will make a new backup.
But first I want to install logos:- I removed TLS entries in the regestry
- Updated NETFramework to 4.8
- Windows Update is disabled
- KasperskyFirewall allows Logos to install (I also disabled it once)
- BITSADMIN - checked
It still does not works

Catch 22. First you need the Logos Installer files. You could get them from another Logos 8 installation e.g. install L8 on a friend's Windows 10!
Hopefully, you did not remove TLS 1.2. Check as follows:
- Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Scroll to the bottom and check the TLS version .
- Use TLS 1.2 must be enabled (checked)

I only removed my regestry-edition as you said.
In the Internet Options are TLS 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2 enabled.
I have TWO installer files on my computer:- 8.11
- 8.17

What are these? Post a screenshot of File Explorer
I'm referring to files in %localappdata%\Logos\Install\Installers (paste into File Explorer). Post a screenshot if you have the Installers folder.

I don't have any installers folder. It is a new windows-installation.
I downloaded that two files here to install logos.0 -

I downloaded that two files here to install logos. These Setup files download the Installer files that you need in this situation. Hence my recommendation to install L8 on a friend's Windows 10 system (it is quick as you exit the Sign-in window when it appears).

I got an Idea:
I saved the crashed system as a backup. The Logos there worked well.
Do I can copy the Logos-Order to the new system?0 -

Do I can copy the Logos-Order to the new system? If you saved a backup you should be able to copy the Installers files to the new system (if this is what you mean by Logos-Order)
But you stated ealier that "it doesn't contain a Logos installation"!!

Some years ago I started to install my system. I decided to make a backup for every greater step within the installation. So I have a backup for the naked system. I have a backup for the nacket system with SP1 and drivers ... and so on ...
So, few weeks ago, Before I restored one of earlier backup, I made a backup for the old, brocken system. That does'nt work well. But Logos worked.
Because of that I got the idea: I could copy the logos-folder from brocken system. Would that work?0 -

Ok - I understand now.
- Copy the Logos folder from your backup to a convenient location on the hard drive e.g. your user folder in C:|Users
- Run Logos-x64.msi from the ...\Install\Installers folder in Logos.
- select Custom installation and uncheck “Automatically Download Updates”
- when the installation has finished, immediately exit the Sign-in window (if it appears)
- if necessary kill Logos in Task Manager.
- create a shortcut from the new ...\Logos\Logos.exe & move it to your Desktop
- If they exist delete the following folders from the new installation and replace them from your backup in C:\Users (move them as it is much faster than copying them).
\Logos\Data - \Logos\Documents
- \Logos\Users
- these are the only folders that you need from backup
- Start Logos and sign-in

I said earlier that there is no guarantee that this will work even if you have the latest version of .NET and re-enabled TLS 1.1, 1.2 before starting.
