Where to start - Learning Greek

I'm wanting to learn Greek - where should I start?

I have the L4 Platinum edition and recently purchased the Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew videos. I have so many resources (a good problem to have) I don't know where I should begin. Should I start by using one of my resources or the videos first?

I also have Learn to Read NT Greek by Black.

I'm sure someone else has already asked this question and I did search the forums before posting this but my brain must not be working very well today because I could not find an answer.

May I humbly suggest at this point that you do not try to learn from several sources at the same time. You have purchased the video's I would suggest beginning with them.

Later, as you begin forming a good foundation is the time to start bringing in multiple sources for learning Greek, and even reviewing alternate materials in areas that you think you already know. In this way, you'll expand your knowledge of Greek.

BUT in my experience, if you try to learn from competing textbooks and methods you'll end up clouding the water a bit too much.

Be aware, that the Video's are not intended to teach you Greek the way a seminary course would. They are intended to teach you enough so that you can use Logos to do better Bible study. Whereas a more classical approach (Black's, Mounces, Summers' even Kairos) is more likely to focus on wrote memory - which as I understand, the Video's attempt to avoid.

If I were in you place, I believe I would start with the videos. They are designed to teach you how to use the tools available in Logos for language study. I haven't watched the Greek, but the Hebrew does contain some of the basics of grammar.

You will not build the necessary vocabulary, nor will you be able to sight read the original, but you will have some of the basics. Then start with a good basic grammar. Platinum contains "The Elements of NT Greek" by Nunn. I have never read it, so I cannot comment on its usefulness.
