New Install of L4 Mac - Crash - Beta 3

Well, yesterday I downloaded the Beta 3 software and installed it on my new iMac. After several hours of indexing, and it completed, I shut down my computer for the night so my wife could go to bed. This morning I open L4 for the first time, and it loaded just fine, brings up my last used desktop, appears to be functioning, and then closes the program.

Sounds like a crash - please post logs in zip file (especially console messages) - forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6731.aspx has tutorial, step 1 already done.

Hi Rick.

1. Please keep the computer on your side of the bed - It is unfair to make your wife stay up until you have finished doing your work. Your wife needs her sleep as much as anybody else!

2. Unfortunately your Logs do not appear to have been properly attached to your email - please will you try again following the steps in the video. Make sure that you include the Console Logs as these are important.

Archive has 5 files - Console Messages shows consistent crash 30 seconds after launching Logos trying to access a reading plan resource (on previous desktop). Crash information should be helpful for Logos developers.

Workaround idea: launch Logos 4 => after "Signing In" disappears, type CMD+Shift+H (keyboard shortcut => Go Home):

From previous layout crash(s), have customized home page to show on startup (bottom left corner).

Thanks for looking at the log file. I uninstalled, reinstalled and tomorrow I will finish the index again. In the meantime I will also try your suggestion and then try changing the PC Desktop from the Reading Plan if that doesn't work. Not sure why it would have an issue with my Reading Plan. Otherwise, what I saw of the Mac Version I liked the look, not to mention, having the better resolution means I can have more resources open as well.

Thanks again. I should have also mentioned that while the indexing was going on, my iMac went into sleep mode several times. Was able to find a utility that overrides that function, which may not be the cause, but, indexing took much longer because of it. But, I will log into my PC and set it to startup with the Home Page, then start up my iMac to see if that makes a difference, after the indexing completes. It not I will use the keyboard combination you suggested.

Thanks. I was able to get it to come up after changing the settings on my PC to start with the Home Page. The first time I started it, the Mac L4 started with my Bible Reading Plan and then crashed. I restarted and it displayed the Home Page. I will have to check the forum as now when I try to change Program Settings i get a blank page. But, at least it is up and allowing me to use it.

Try to open that reading plan from the File menu. If it crashes than quit Logos4, pull out /Users/userfolder/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/uniquefolder/Documents/ReadingPlan/ReadinPlan.db, restart sync, and attempt to open that Reading Plan again.

On another note: I noticed you said you found a utility that overrides the sleep function. Did you mean a third party application?

Concerning the Program Settings, I got them to display after opening in a floating window and then I could make the necessary changes.

Yes, the utility is called Caffeine. My index today only took about 1.5 hours.

If it crashes again I will perform your solution. I really like the looks of the L4 Mac over the L4 Win.

Yes, sorry for not responding again. The problem with the Program Settings corrected itself as well once I shut down L4 Mac and restarted it. It may have been a first time use issue, but the others areas I explored have worked flawlessly. It is different that the Win version so I have to learn a little at a time. I have only been using my Mac for about a month now, but so far so good. Looking forward to the day that I can quit using Win7. I have one more program that I need that is being developed now and should come out this fall. I will keep checking for solutions on the forum if I run into anything else.
